We've heard these promises before.

We won't believe it until there is demonstrable action.

But even as he talked tough on illegal immigration, he continued to lobby for a program that would allow foreign workers to legally cross the border to fill U.S. jobs temporarily.

So six years from today, there will be more not fewer illegals here. What the hell type of get tough program is that?

A slap and insult combined for the conservatives.

President Bush said yesterday that his goal is eventually to expel "every single" illegal alien from the United States as his administration pressed Congress to pass a guest-worker program.
We've heard these promises before.

No, it's true. Once Bush's amnesty program naturalizes all of them, they will no longer be illegals, fulfilling the president's promise.

Ummm, is this another one of those "ya'll will just have to trust me on this" kinda deals? This is almost as good as McLame and Kennedy's "you pay us a $2500.00 fee and you can stay in the US. Duh! Has anyone asked those two idiots where the illegals are going to get the $2500 from? Could they not know that the illegals got scalped at the border by the coyotes who got them into the country illegally? Somehow I don't see them picking lettuce for $50.00 an hour so they will probably never have this $2500 fee in their lifetime!

America is being run by a bunch of nincompoops. My God, we're going to have to overthrow the government before they accidently start a nuclear war. LOL

This is nothing more than us trying steal the democrats talking points. Hillary et al start talking about curbing illegal immigration... and now our side wants to do it too.

They learned this from Clinton by the way.....

I guess whatever the reason.... it would be nice if they actually enforced the immigration laws.

Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome

Definition:
Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome is a brain disorder involving loss of specific brain functions caused by a thiamine deficiency.

Alternative Names:
Korsakoff psychosis; Alcoholic encephalopathy; Encephalopathy - alcoholic; Wernicke's disease

Causes, incidence, and risk factors:
The syndrome is actually a spectrum, including two separate sets of symptoms, one of which tends to start when the other subsides. Wernicke's encephalopathy involves damage to multiple nerves in both the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (the rest of the body).
It may also include symptoms caused by alcohol withdrawal. The cause is generally attributed to malnutrition, especially lack of vitamin B1 (thiamine), which commonly accompanies habitual alcohol use or alcoholism.

Heavy alcohol use interferes with the metabolism of thiamine, so even in the unusual cases where alcoholics are eating a balanced diet while drinking heavily, the metabolic problem persists because most of the thiamine is not absorbed.

Korsakoff syndrome, or Korsakoff psychosis, tends to develop as Wernicke's symptoms diminish. It involves impairment of memory out of proportion to problems with other cognitive functions.

Patients often attempt to hide their poor memory by confabulating. The patient will create detailed, believable stories about experiences or situations to cover gaps in memory. This is not usually a deliberate attempt to deceive because the patient often believes what he is saying to be true. It can occur whether or not the thiamine deficiency was related to alcoholism and with other types of brain damage.

Korsakoff psychosis involves damage to areas of the brain involved with memory.
