beneficence \buh-NEFF-i-suhns\, noun:
The practice of doing good; active goodness, kindness, or charity; bounty springing from purity and goodness

From my grandfather Verus I learned good morals and the government of my temper. From the reputation and remembrance of my father, modesty and a manly character. From my mother, piety and beneficence and abstinence.

As the British troops marched out to surrender, the British bands played the song "The World Turned Upside Down."

Oh man, I seem to have a little something in my eyes after reading that.

Once, long ago, when dinosaurs ruled the earth, I had just such an assignment. An Airman, 24 years of age, was killed in the line of duty. We were assigned to escort the body and went with the notification team to the residence of his parents. I remember standing by the car while the team went to the door. I was so happy to just get on the aircraft after that and do something.

I just hated every minute of that assignment. Bless this kind lady. I know how those guys felt. It is always hard on a person, and I don't know for sure, but I suspect they will never forget those feelings. I sure never did.

All in all however, we knew the gravity of the moment, and I think now, looking back that we did a good job. I pray to God that we did, and I will never forget.

I only let the people who were there for us in the door.I turned many away.I had 15 volunteer's come and the beautiful thing is they were mostly Liberian,Nigerian,Uganda especially the men.No-one would take a penny because we helped them so much. They cleaned and emptied the place and waited on me and took care of me as I took care of them.It was very beautiful to see.
