Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, said he expects indictments this week in the CIA leak case involving White House advisers Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.
Kristol said "the mood is bleak in the White House today, and said the environment surrounding the federal grand jury testimony is "pretty grim. Although the indictments may not ultimately result in anything substantive, Kristol said there is a pins-and-needles feel to the grand jury investigation into the leaking of a CIA agent's name to the media in 2003.
"The net has been cast wide, Kristol told Fox News Tuesday. "Lots of junior aides have testified. Its been a very comprehensive investigation by the prosecutor. I think there will be indictments and the mood is pretty bleak in the White House.
As for what this means for President Bush and the daily working of the White House, Kristol said it is too early to tell.
"The White House has to ask, How do we segregate this? This is a problem, but the legal system has to run its course.
"Meanwhile, Kristol said, "the president has to take the initiative on foreign policy and economic policy and sort of set this aside.
A very boring research project for some young skull full of mush would be to make a chart of the Joker's predictions and tally how many were right and how many were wrong. And to compile a list of named sources for his information. I wonder if he has a DoD security clearance.
OOOPS!!!
And hopefully, they don't vote!
I heard Kristal. I can not tolirate him at all. He is such a hang down your head tom dolie type.
Well, there are all shades of conservatives. I just don't like his particular shade.
I think Kristol and Gergen are a perfect pair.
I suspect you'll be proven right, and that Kristol will be proven monumentally wrong. And yet, he'll still be an "expert" analyst on Fox.
Anyone know how many cabinet level indictments there were during the Clinton years?
I cannot stand Gergen. He is another gloom and doomer.
McCain isn't a military expert. He's a punk who's been using his unfortunate POW experience to justify his presence in the US senate. He is not respected or admired by most conservatives here in Arizona.
Backstabbing traitor comes to mind when I think of Gergen.....and Kristol.
Not worth the time. Better do that with a influential pundit instead. ;o)
Fox should jettison him to MSNBC.
He is universally disliked by everyone it would seem. You could not find a single caller who thought highly of the man.
One of the hosts, Ron Insana just couldn't believe it. He praised McCain over and over but no one was buying!
Ouch. That's gotta hurt! LOL
I do not. But the MSM treated it as "evil republicans" out to destroy clintoon. Don't think Bush will get that same deference...
Yes. He's saving up energy for McCains next big loss inthe primaries.
lol. I want to know who pays to read this stuff. It just seems like such a waste of time. And then tv networks like Fox have this guy on as if anyone cares what he has to say. What is his claim to fame? His dad? Or is it that he worked for Dan Quayle? Or is it that he was Alan Keyes roommate?
I don't see many people listening to Kristol at FR. He appears to receieve very little respect at FR, and certainly didn't get much respect on this thread.
