Is it too early to dig up Miami/Key West/Tampa TV live streams?

Aw, geez. I was beginning to hope we would escape. I have two big new puppies at that awkward age (6 mos)and I really can't bring them to anyone's house if we have to evacuate. They chew, are not trustworthy with housebreaking, etc.

We are supposed to go down to Sarasota on Sat, looks like that trip may be out.

When she gets a little closer to the Yucatan Channel, we should be able to get a good look at her from the Cancun radar

Not much to see yet though.

Wilma Is 12th Atlantic Hurricane, Tying 1969 Record (Update1)
SNIP from article:

...cold front in the southeastern U.S. is picking up Wilma and moving it northeast, Brown said. Such a pattern is a ``fairly typical October path'' for hurricanes.

Check out the Sat/Sun. positions compared to the earlier days in the week. It's going to pick up a lot of forward speed.

From what I've seen, it looks like my parents down on Marco Island are in for a wild ride. And wouldn't you know that they took down their hurricane shutters last weekend. I think I know what they will be doing this week.

Monitoring.

If Wilma stays steady on this track, it may be possible to deliver some very high resolution surge and wind field estimates in advance of landfall.

If she's bouncing around, it becomes a race between large data files and a dial-up connection.

In any event, I'll be here more and more as we get closer to landfall, whenever that may be.

Please ping me with any eyewall diameter estimates or measurements once she hits Cat-3 and above. Thanks.

Well, last weekend the wife and I went to church conference in Orlando. They were auctioning off pies for new church development. So I used my block ice to keep the pies cool in the cooler, figguring I would not need the ice this hurricane season. Well, now, I guess I am in a pickle. So tomorrow I go to the ice plant and buy some more ice blocks. This is getting to be a real pain!

Thanks for the thread. I reside in Key Biscayne, Florida. Tracked hurricanes for many years, had property hit by 3. I use a number of hurricane tracking and forecast websites, but this is a good consolidated info site: http://www.crownweather.com/tropical.html

The latest steering currents, track forecast, and intensity forecast, do not look good for South Florida. Oh well, no one holds a gun to my head to have a home in South Florida.

8:14 PM Tuesday Oct 18 2005

Hurricane Wilma continues to explosively strengthen over the warm waters of the Caribbean. The storm will reach Category 3 strength early Wednesday and should become a Category 4 hurricane by the end of Wednesday.

It is not out of the question that Wilma reaches Category 5 strength some time Wednesday or Thursday, which would set a new record for the most Category 5 hurricanes in a single year. The AccuWeather.com forecasted track of Wilma shows the storm becoming a serious threat to Florida this weekend. Deviations in the path are still possible, but currently we feel southern and central Florida will experience the full fury of the storm.

When the storm makes landfall this weekend, the west coast of Florida somewhere between Tampa and the Keys could be pounded by winds over 100 mph and a destructive storm surge. Torrential rain brought by the storm will be widespread across a large portion of the state.

Story by AccuWeather.com expert senior meteorologists John Kocet and Ray Martin.
