I have not talked to her today, but I constantly check the Cayman Compass for the current weather.

From what I've seen, it looks like my parents down on Marco Island are in for a wild ride. And wouldn't you know that they took down their hurricane shutters last weekend. I think I know what they will be doing this week.

Monitoring.

If Wilma stays steady on this track, it may be possible to deliver some very high resolution surge and wind field estimates in advance of landfall.

If she's bouncing around, it becomes a race between large data files and a dial-up connection.

In any event, I'll be here more and more as we get closer to landfall, whenever that may be.

Please ping me with any eyewall diameter estimates or measurements once she hits Cat-3 and above. Thanks.

You are so right about that. Gasoline, now. Do not wait.

LOL. I now have a generator. It's one of my most valued possessions. :)

Do you live in a coastal area which could be affected by a hurricane or have relatives or close friends who do?

Maybe you should have posted your post on one of the Rita threads where FReepers were reporting the damage to their homes and were checking in about where they had evacuated to and the losses they had suffered. I'm sure your making fun and laughing your a$$ off comment would have been greatly appreciated.

BTW, I paid no attention to Y2K.

Not a pleasant way to wind down the hurricane season. This storm could impact virtually all of the peninsula.

Have you actually participated in any of the hurricane threads? If not they are pretty informational and entertaining at the same time. I kept up with the latest information regarding where the witch Rita was going and figured out well in advanced of the local news coverage that I was in the bulls eye. It allowed me to beat the rush and get my stuff in order ahead of the vast multitudes. So I for one am thankful for the live threads.
