Great email, Dolly..:))
As I've posted many times on The Finest, I have reached that lofty, nonapologetic plateau in life where I have earned the Chinese respected designation as a Venerable One!
Kinda gets me off the hook of the hafta have "good looks" department - LOL - takes me beyond to wise(?), sometimes profound (okay, occasionally?), and can shift to throwing in humor to balance that lofty stuff - -
Here's to aging gracefully, and enjoying it!

Hi, tulip:
I can get along well with a Pasta Day
Spaghetti, Ravioli, Lasagna; they're all okay
Carbs, Proteins and Vitamins all on one plate
Though they are the bane of white shirts far and wide
As they twist or drip from both fork and spoon
Some might say that I'm quite the Couture Loon
My sense of style may make the less timid swoon
If I were to ceremoniously arrive and dine
You may ask, though I may not tell you why
I prefer to dine al dente in a loud Hawaiian shirt
And campy, narrow, hand painted silk tie!

Black Poetry Day?
Black
The fabric of the Universe,
Is strong, and soft, and light,
And softly setting off the face,
Are diadems of night.
The swirls of constellations,
And patterns that it has,
Of diamond, ruby, precious stones,
Offset by bright topaz.
The universe is beautiful,
No color does it lack.
The fabrics softly stated,
Its done in basic black.

Please accept my entry in the Black (Humor) contest:
Her hair was dyed, her eyebrows penciled, her lips painted,
her cheeks rouged, her eyes belladonnaed, her nose powdered,
and when she entered the car with him, even her mind was made up --
not to mention the unbelievable script and underlying fantasyland agenda.

A story in the Wall Street Journal a couple of weeks ago quoted some old lady as saying. "old-age sucks."
Everything is aching today, and I have have to agree with her.

From a former Marine
Marine Corps Hymn Power
Ron Sandburg of Bixby, OK, came by the store the other day. He has installed one of the horns on his scooter. Just after entering the doorway he plays it. You know.... the women in my office just do not appreciate the positive benefits of hearing the Marines' Hymn at high decibel levels. So I took his picture and here he is.
Cpl Ron Sandburg is a WWII vet.
2nd MarDiv, 3rd Bn,
10th Marines, H Btty.
Saipan - Tarawa - Tinian
Ps: I forgot to add that he likes to play his horn in malls when people will not get out of his way. Says it really gets peoples attention.

Thank you for writing, repubmom, and we appreciate your son for serving our country. Will add him to my list and give a heads up in FR mail to the others, so that they can add him to their lists.

FYI
A fall harvest of facts about the beloved apple
Whether bought from roadside stands, u-pick-'em orchards, or
supermarkets, this is the time of year when Americans love to bite into
crisp, tree-ripened apples. It's also a time to bone up on apple
trivia. Did you know, for example, that the first known apple tree grew
between the Black and Caspian Seas? Or that apples are members of the
rose family? A few more apple facts, from the University of Illinois
Extension Service:
Varieties grown in US: 2,500
Varieties grown in the world: 7,500
Average number of apples eaten by each American in a year: 65
US apples used for juice and cider per year: 21%
Number of apples it takes to make a gallon of cider: 36
Most widely grown variety in the US: Delicious
States that grow apples commercially: 36
Top apple-growing states: Washington, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania,
Virginia, California
Leading apple-growing countries besides US: China, Turkey, Poland, Italy
