Spin alert--again. What I find most interesting is that the father can't remember "exactly" what the so-called suicide note (if that's what it was) said. If it had been my son, it would have been burned into my brain--I'd be trying to forget what it said, and not succeeding. I'm guessing this because a friend of mine (just a friend, not a son or daughter) committed suicide, and I'll never forget her note.
For it being only one line, he seems to have said quite a lot.
I think the dad is reeling, and whatever it was would make the son look bad. With all the rumors I would imagine the dad is trying to protect his son - after death. I'm sure there's guilt that he didn't see what was going on.
Curious as to why the mom hasn't spoken out.
I agree, my nephew committed suicide and left his family a note and it is imprinted on his fathers brain, never to be forgotten. I didn't get to read it or I would also have it burned into the gray matter. The FBI is trying to spin this into a simple suicide when it probably, IMO, was meant to be a large scale killing.
It said, "Life is b*llsh*t...I can't f*ck*n'
take it anymore.....signed, the dead guy."
"Suicide note" ping.
"It was a single line of text on his computer," said the father, who lives in Colorado Springs. "The cursor was still blinking at the end." I believe that when pigs start flying.
...father can't remember "exactly" what the so-called suicide note...
***
Exactly. Especially since it was "one line of text". Good grief! How could you not recall verbatim one line from your dead son? Things just keep not adding up in this story.
How can they prove that Joel wrote the message on the computer?
Maybe that was Fazal's job.
His description of the message is consistent with the recollection of others who have been briefed about the investigation by the FBI.
No links to terrorist groups
FBI officials have said they may never know whether the student wanted to get inside the stadium. The student did not have a season ticket. FBI officials also have said the investigation has not found any links between the student and terrorist organizations.

Spin alert--again.
So the father has come out saying his son just wanted to off himself, the FBI has stated again the young man wasn't tied to terrorists, but it's spin.
And for the record, if I was the father I wouldn't be telling the media exactly what was in the note either. What if it was something personal about the family as the reason given? Those would have been my exact words if the media had asked me and I had been in that situation
But it's all spin. And only 'those in the know' fully grasp the situation....

OU To Distribute Evacuation Plan To Fans At Game
Monday October 17, 2005 7:32am
Norman (AP) - University of Oklahoma President David Boren says an evacuation plan will be distributed to all fans at Saturday's home football game against Baylor.
In a letter to season ticket holders, Boren advised fans to arrive at the game earlier since searches at gates will be thorough.
Boren wrote that he wanted to update ticket holders about security measures since a deadly explosion October first outside the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Joel Henry Hinrichs the Third died when his bomb went off about 100 yards from the packed stadium during the second quarter of O-U's game against Kansas State.
The F-B-I said they may never know if he tried or intended to get inside the stadium.
The letter urges fans to follow the safety plan in case of severe weather or the unlikely event of an emergency.
