When the normally off-key Julian gets one right, gotta give him his "props."

Winston Churchill once said something to the effect that if you want to enjoy the benefits of free speech then you have to be willing to put up with occasional incidents of foolish speech. I can't argue with the logic behind that.

I don't think anyone should be allowed "Freedom From Consequences"
every freak show there is has a march, and I don't think this country is a freak show... IMO

Churchill, as usual, was right. Sigh.

Juan, of course, redeemed himself by blaming the riots on a lack of security.

The question arises, who decides what constitutes a freak show? In San Francisco, a march by FReepers might be considered one.

......Amazing, eh?......
Not really. As a professional Black man ie one who earns his living from being black, he is bright enough to know the incident although typical behavior for city blacks, is unacceptable.

When you consider that there was about nine hours of free speech (some would call it hate speech) on the Mall yesterday, a sane person could only conclude that the Nazis in Toledo should have been able walk down a sidewalk without having rocks thrown at them.
To: Loyal Buckeye
Yes, he did throw in something at the end of his comment about security or the lack thereof. Still, he gets credit in my book for taking a clear cut stance in favor of 1st Amendment rights, no matter how odious the views being expressed.

Please expand. How would it work? If a majority of people think some people shouldn't be allowed to express themselves, then those people's First Amendment rights should be taken away? Doesn't that contradict the fundamental spirit of the constitution, which was largely designed to protect the rights of the minority against the power of the majority?
And of course these matters are typically decided on a local level. Again, would you like the right of FReepers to march in San Francisco to be put up to a referendum of SF residents?

the country, as a society, has a right to say what is acceptable and what isn't
as for CA:
California -- the U.S.'s most populous state, with almost the same population as Canada -- has 85,000 registered sex offenders and 80,000 police officers.

how did it get that way?
