Miers, Free Republic, and Temper Tantrums. Let's cool it down people.

Folks, we need to tone down the rhetoric. It is dividing us. We can argue passionatley without hating each other or blowing our tops. I am particularly worried that certain FReeepers are letting this get to their heads too much psychologically. In the end, none of us will have any impact. The types of personal insults and tantrums that are flying around are just not neccessary. Here is a small sampling, just from today:

It is NOT up to the Pres to appease the knee jerk critics. IT is up to the critics to explain why we should listen to them rather then our chosen Representatives. So far you are all failing to do that....failing badly. Just throwing a temper tantrum because you cannot dictate to the rest of us how your emotional whimsy wants things to be is NOT how this works.

UM NO, you have this EXACTLY backwards. The Pres picks, the Senate consents. If the "Conservative" pundits want to interject themselves into this THEY have to explain to US why we should listen to them over the people WE picked to represent us. Bush has NO questions to answer. The Conservative PUNDITS need to explain to us WHY we should pay ANY attention to their temper tantrum. So far they have FAILED to make any case beyond "Whaaaa, she is NOT who WE want". Too bad. We are a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy, you self appointed critics have NO role in this.

Here is some good new but since the Moveon.org "conservatives" can only complain, not actually support anything, they have to find something to complain about even on this topic. Until the Moveon.org "Conservatives" learn to support SOMEthing, and stop whining about EVERYTHING, Adult Conservatives will continue to ignore them.

How about the fact that we are a Constitutional Republic and the President is the representative of ALL the people, not just the perpetually angry wing of the Political Right? The President picks, the Senate consents. The burden is on the critics to prove their objections valid, NOT the rest of the Republic to appease their perpetual "I'm mad at Bush because...." temper tantrum. So far they have NOT made the case against Miers and it IS going to be very difficult for some of them to go back to arguing "the President's choice deserves and up or down vote" the next time the Dems filibuster.

Nonsense. YOU ARE NOT asking questions. YOU ARE throwing a temper trantrum because YOU did not get to pick the nominee. Sorry NONE of us have any reason to pay any attention when all the MOveon.org "Conservatives do is engage in knee jerk opposition. Try being FOR something and we will take you seriously. Until that time your knee jerk automatic opposition to everything does NOT impress us. The Moveon.org "Conservatives" are the frige, NOT the base, and the rest of us are SICK of your temper trantums on EVERY issue.

GW is Pres. He picks. Senate advises and consents. The Whine all the Time crowd has no role in this. THEY want us to NOT trust Bush and trust them. Sorry, NO reason at ALL to trust the Whine all the Time crowd. Sorry but the interjecting of the "I'm mad at Bush" crowds emotional whimsy into the Miers deal is really getting old. They have made NO case at all for their side other then "I'm mad at Bush, Bush picked Miers. That means Miers is bad". Sorry not at ALL a rational argument. Sorry you are mad. Too bad for you we are a Constitutional Republic, NOT a Democracy. This "you all got to do what I want" attitude of the Moveon.org "Conservatives" is why they are a fringe element hanging on the edges of the Conservative movement. Sorry but the fringe does NOT get to dictate to the rest of us their emotional whimsy for us to enact for them. This throwing a tempertranrum on EVERY issues demonstrates to the Adults that the Moveon.org "Conservatives" will spend all their time pouting and will NEVER be with us when we need them. Since all the Moveon.org "Conservatives" do is throw temper tanrums after temper tantrum, the rest of us have no reason to EVER pay any attention to them.

Yep, I am at work. Did this more as a Freeper community service then any desire to spend today listening to the Whine All the Time crowds latest temper tranrum. Amazing how so many supposed adults STILL have not figured out politics is NOT a case of them dictating their feelins to the rest of us to enact for them

Amazing how the Moveoon.org "Conservatives" in their daily temper tantrum have to go to old has beens to find anyone to validate their knee jerk Bush hate. Sorry but since the Moveon.org "Conservatives" are going to be mad no matter what Bush does, there is NO reason to pay any attention to them on ANYTHING. The best way to deal with temper tantrums, is to ignore them. When the Whine all the Time crowd finally grow up enough to realize that politics consists of COMPROMISES, not THEM dictating to everyone else what they should do, the Moveon.org "Conservatives" will have moved off the fringe. Until then, there is NO reason for any Adult Politician to pay any attention to them.

It's very simple. IF you are not loyal to the party, the party has no reason to be loyal to you. See unlike the knee jerk rebellion impulses the Moveon.org "Conservatives" continually indulge in, Adult Conservatives realize politics is a cooperative venture. If all a Senator, like McCain, ever does is throw a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way, the adults in the party realize people like that are not going to be there when we need them so their is no reason to listen to them. A politician, like a child, is best ignored when they indulge in a temper tantrum. Browback been around long enough to realizes that if he wants the party's support, he has to support the party. Bush, not the whine all the time crowd, is President. Bush Picks, the Senate Advises. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that says ANYONE has to pay the slightest attention to the Whine all the Time crowd.

Clearly, the quotes above reflect tamper tantrums, and not the kind of reasoned debate that should be going on at FR. So, let's all tone it down folks.

I'm sorry if anyone is offended by this Vanity, but jveritas has posted a whole bunch on the subject lately so I figured this would be ok.

To borrow from a dated hip-hop vernacular, "Word!".

I support her nomination if for no other reason than it'll tick off the east coast media elite. That BS White House briefing yesterday made me ill.

Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that this website is called FreeRepublic and not FreeRepublican.

"Can't we all get along?"

I'm sorry, just the irony of this type of post from a user named Rodney King!

Not to MAKE light of the whole SITUATION, but I've notice that SOME people on FR really have creative STYLES of writing. Just an OBSERVATION.

What drives me crazy is how a whole slew of well known conservatives like coulter, limbaugh, malkin suddenly because "moveon.org conservatives" because they oppose one nomination.

People are not being honest with themselves.

As a matter of common courtesy you should ping the FReepers that made these statements.

Gotta love it, "Rodney King" asking if we can't all just get along?

In the end, none of us will have any impact.

Those opposed to this nomination ARE having an impact. The Republicans need to know that not nominating an originalist to the court will have negative consquences at the ballot box and that it would be foolish for Republicans in Congress to play Russian Roulette with this candidate.

Interesting that every one of those examples is from a Miers supporter.
