There's no reason why this guy should have been able to leave the cabin under his own power.

Nothing is said about the actions of other passengers, but I trust the perp was forcibly restrained.

This acn't be true.
It's common knowledge that everyone on the plane would have been sucked through the open window. everyone, that is, except for James Bond and Pussy Galore

Window puncher arrested at Tampa airportI am shocked and outraged to learn that this young man punched a widow. Women who have lost their husbands are already enduring unspeakable grief, and to add injury to insult by physically attacking them is a despicable . . .
What? It's not a widow puncher? It's a window puncher?
Never mind.

could have been a psychotic episode caused by drug abuse And it could have been anger at losing $$$ in Las Vegas.
People have been known to lose homes and cars because of gambling "issues".

This freak should NEVER be allowed to fly on a commercial plane again. A law should be passed ASAP because there are so damn many of these out of control people flying.

Hyperbole. This story is not print-worthy. Just sensationalism by the media.

If anything like this ever happens on one of my flights, they just might end up having to take ME into custody.

Interesting. I was on a different red-eye Tuesday night/Wednesday morning out of Las Vegas, too. No problems on my flight except for a dude in an adjacent row who, well, had excessive flatulent issues.

This fellow looks to me like he is Islamic. Was he attempting to force the plane down, and commit suicide? It's to bad he didn't succeed and get stuck head first with his head out the window.

could have been a psychotic episode caused by drug abuse. That should DOUBLE the sentence, not reduce it. Making that a "mitigating factor" is like pleading that a driver should receive a reduced vehicular homicide sentence because of "diminished capacity" from drinking beyond his capacity.
IOW, the old "yes I killed my parents, but have mercy on an orphan" plea.
