This fellow looks to me like he is Islamic. Was he attempting to force the plane down, and commit suicide? It's to bad he didn't succeed and get stuck head first with his head out the window.

Tampa, Florida (AP) -- Authorities say a passenger punched out an airplane window during an outburst on an American West flight from Las Vegas to Tampa.
According to an FBI affidavit, 24-year-old Ryan Marchione of Venice shattered a plastic shield covering the glass window and disconnected its frame about 90 minutes into Tuesday's overnight flight.
The outer window was not damaged and the plane did not depressurize, the airline said.
Marchione was arrested after the plane landed Wednesday morning at Tampa International Airport.
He faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted of a charge of damaging or destroying an aircraft while it was operating.
Marchione's attorney says his client's outburst appeared to come out of nowhere, and could have been a psychotic episode caused by drug abuse.

Interesting. I was on a different red-eye Tuesday night/Wednesday morning out of Las Vegas, too. No problems on my flight except for a dude in an adjacent row who, well, had excessive flatulent issues.

Yuck. On a recent a recent flight I took, some woman behind me actually sat down and sprayed perfume around her. Maybe it was a pre-emptive strike against a gassy cabin-mate, but I wanted to throttle her for being so self-centered as to think everyone would want to smell her perfume for an hour.
That should DOUBLE the sentence, not reduce it. Making that a "mitigating factor" is like pleading that a driver should receive a reduced vehicular homicide sentence because of "diminished capacity" from drinking beyond his capacity.
IOW, the old "yes I killed my parents, but have mercy on an orphan" plea.
Then there was that kook from Nothern Calif with a pure anglo-saxon name "David Lynn Walker". He went over to the darkside. I think this guy tried to take down an airliner without the use of explosives.
