He's been tortured for days for no reason Lawyers and liberals sure do have a broad definition of "torture" these days.

And what's the moral difference between using a legal pain reliever and an illegal pain reliever?

Many of us have suffered from chronic, severe pain but have found legal medications that allieviate it...and many have found that marijuana does a better job of treating THEIR symptoms, and pain. But, I guess you're a doctor, and know how they feel...

One must take the legal drugs such as vioxx or face the wrath of the drug companys, one just can not be allowed to grow their own just think of the lost profits. So man pay up accept the side effects and die quietly.

I think the guy would be better off smoking pot than on morphine.
This is ridiculous. If he was self-medicating with alcohol, everything would be hunky dory with the WOD'ers? Or if he was taking 10+ oxycodon a day, no one would have a problem (except doctors are afraid to prescribe it because of the hot stinky breath of the Federals breathing down their necks)?
Sorry, this just isn't right.

Though Tuck has taken morphine - as prescribed by doctors - for about 16 years to help with his pain, he was given no painkiller or treatment at the jail other than ibuprofen, Hiatt said. Tuck appeared emaciated in court, and Hiatt said he had been sick from morphine withdrawal. People don't usually become addicted to morphine when they take it for chronic pain. And if he was taking morphine, what did he need all the marijuana for?
Seems like something was left out of this article.
To: FerdieMurphy
While I have sympathy for him, he's got a lot of problems.
Maybe a Dr. who really cares will help him manage his pain more effectively than the ones who got him addicted to morphine.

You know there are no real problems in the world if the gov't has resources to track down and prosecute (persecute) any person who grows marijuana for his own use, presuming he wasn't "dealing".
These laws are mostly about insuring pharmaceutical company profits.
Why do you think those same companies are pushing so hard to outlaw health store natural vitamin and herb sales? Follow the MONEY! It is in the Bible that the Lord gave us the plants for food and medicine. He also warned us against gluttony and I think one doesn't need be be a Talmudic scholar to reason that warning includes misuse ,not use, of medicinal plants.

Reserving judgement for now. I imagine there's more to this bare-bones story. Thirty-eight years old.....no family or friends to lend a hand?
Where was Oh! Canada's big nanny teat in his case? Or was he living underground as a fugitive?
What has he been using for pain relief since he went off morphine? He seems to prefer back agony above the border than legal pain relief and treatment here in the states.
He appears to be suffering from more than physical pain. I hope he gets the help he needs.

Many of us have suffered from chronic, severe pain but have found legal medications that allieviate it. Yes, but it's also illegal to use more prescription drugs than the recommended dose.
And those legal medication have nasty effects, even severe addiction consequences.
See Rush Limbaugh.

In 2001, while he was living in McKinleyville, Calif., his marijuana operation was raided for the second time. He fled to British Columbia to avoid prosecution but asylum was denied. So people in pain should be above the law?
To: FerdieMurphy
Heaven forbid he use pot to help himself - but it's ok that he's been on morphine for so long that he's got a monkey the size of King Kong on his back.
