Yes, the Iraqi jihadists have close ties to Osama bin Laden. Yes, the jihadists are losing popular support. Yes, the lure of democracy for Muslims is strong.
And yes, "more than half of this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media."
All of these realities, and more, are evident in a letter, intercepted by U.S. intelligence forces, that Osama bin Laden's top deputy wrote on July 9 to the leader of terrorist forces in Iraq.
The letter confirms many of the claims that President George W. Bush has made about the nature of the misnamed "insurgency," and bolsters many of his arguments about how to proceed in Iraq. It proves, also, that the terrorists are attempting to use the American media to create the false impression that Iraq is turning into another Vietnam.
In short, the letter is explosive evidence -- just days before Iraqis vote on a new constitution -- that American efforts against the terrorists are working.
Not only that, but parts of the letter should help drive a wedge between the terrorists and the neighboring states of Syria and Iran which, until now, have tacitly supported them. The terrorists are increasingly isolated and desperate.
In his letter to the terrorist Zarqawi, al-Qaida leader Zawahiri wrote that "the aftermath of the collapse of American power in Vietnam -- and how they ran and left their agents -- is noteworthy."

Well that's good but until they are all rounded up we had better stay on guard. It only takes one, getting thru.

The Mobile Register is one of the few mainstream print sources willing to publish the good side of our global efforts.
Even with the crappy PR job we are doing, killing innocent Muslims just don't get it.
But with this whole staging of Bush's teleconference fiasco today is unfortunately going to greatly undermine their credibility. When the Pentagon responds to Al Qaeda's denial that the letter is authentic by saying "who has more credibility, us or them?" people might have to pause for a moment before answering that now.
What'd you expect? It's based in Alabama! :^)
You obviously don't get it.
"Al-Qaida letter shows terrorists are losing"
... as a result of our policy in the middle east: and thus the extreme interest from the media in showing the letter to be a fake.
how predictable they have become.
Which means that every news network will be working diligently to bury this story.
?
They have been targeting innocent Muslims trying to start a civil war. Innocent is innocent.
Please re-read your post 5.
I think I know what you mean, but it looks like you left out parts of the sentence, which may make people wonder about what your really meant.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?!!!
