These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
We come to You, confessing our sins and recognizing our need for the Savior who paid the price for our transgressions. When we ponder the depth of the sacrifice that was made for us and the extent of our sinfulness, we are contrite and we are humbled. Yet Your love and mercy keep us from despair. We are grateful for Your forgiveness and for Your constancy. How wonderful it is to serve a risen Savior, a Lord who walks with us and talks with us, guiding us through each day. We lift our voices in praise to You, the Lord God Almighty!
Lord, seldom, if ever, have we seen a man so assailed from all sides as George W. Bush. Though he, like all of us, is imperfect, we have seen that his heart is filled with compassion and his loyalty to You and Your Word is strong. This brother in Christ calls upon Your Name and speaks openly of how You have changed his life. We come before You on his behalf, asking that You bless him and lead him, O Lord. Let him hear Your voice above the clamor and heed Your direction for his life. Place Your wisdom within him that his decisions might be in Your will. Father, we are grateful for our gracious First Lady and seek Your blessings upon her also. Comfort her as she sees her husband attacked viciously with lies and distortions. Let their marriage be ever stronger that it might be a refuge from the brutal political world in which they live. We pray also for the President's parents -- how deep must be their pain as they witness the verbal assaults on their son. Provide the President and all his family with strength and consolation as they face the storms swirling around them. Let them turn to Your Word and draw ever closer to You that they may grow in grace through these trials. Father, watch over and protect them all from all who wish them harm.
As the Constitutional election in Iraq draws nearer, guide the people to exercise their newly-won liberty well. Be with our military and the troops from other nations who have sacrificed so much to gain this precious freedom for the Iraqis. Let this mission be recognized for its nobility as hope is offered to millions of people who have known oppression and brutality for generations and let those who fought for this new country's liberty be hailed throughout the world as the heroes that they are. Bless all who serve in our military and give them the courage and skill to carry out their missions.
Lord, we cry out in anguish at the division and enmity and bitterness that pervades our beloved America these days. It hurts us to see that which is good called evil and that which is evil called good. We know that such strife and debauchery come only from the Evil One and at times we become quite discouraged. But when we turn to Your Word and see Your promises, we are once again heartened. You have overcome the world through the death and resurrection of Your Son Jesus, our Lord and our Savior. The victory is already Yours, O Lord. Help us to keep this vision before us and to act as Your children, the children of the Victor who has conquered evil. Revive our nation, O Lord, and plant in all our hearts a desire to seek Your will and to follow Your commandments. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
May God comfort and strangthen President Bush, and may the voices of anger be calmed.
In the Name of Jesus,
Amen.
Amen! And thank You, LORD for this ministry of prayer that is so deeply needed right now!
Dear Lord, wrap Your loving arms around the President and First Lady, and give them Your comfort and peace!
Thank you so much for this prayer.
I prayed a similar but much less eloquent prayer today..
Amen
Agreeing with you, kayak. Many thanks for your prayer and for leading us tonight.
We need the Lord's wisdom and comfort more than ever these days. His Truth is immutable and His promises are eternal. In Him alone lies our hope and our consolation in these troubled times.
Thank you for your faithfulness in this ministry that is so meaningful to a number of people. May God bless you and keep You close to His heart!
Thank you for joining with all of us in praying for our President and our nation. May God hear our prayers and forgive our nation, returning us to His bosom.
I pray that all of this turmoil is used by the Lord to bring glory and honor to His Name. We are seeing only bits and pieces but He knows how the finished tapestry will appear. We must encourage one another that we might not despair and we are grateful for the inspiration that you provide to us all.
May God hear our prayers. Amen.
Thank you, Victoria.
[In my mind, I can see Your face
As Your love pours down in a shower of grace
Some people tell me that You're just a dream
My faith is the evidence of things unseen]
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
In my mind's eye, in my mind
You know what I'm going through
I know this is true
'Cause You stood in my shoes
Desire's inside of me
But it's hard to believe
In what you cannot see
Can you catch the wind?
See a breeze?
Its presence is revealed by
The leaves on a tree
An image of my faith in the unseen
In my mind's eye
I see Your face
You smile as You show me grace
In my mind's eye
You take my hand
We walk through foreign lands
The foreign lands of life
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
In my mind's eye, in my mind
In my mind I'm where I belong
As I rest in Your arms
And like a child I hold on to You
In my moment of truth, yes I do
We can ride the storm
Endure the pain
You comfort me in my hurricane
And I'll never be alone again
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
In my mind's eye, in my mind
In my mind I can see Your face
Love pours down in a shower of grace
Life is a gift that You choose to give
I believe we eternally live
Faith is the evidence of things unseen
People tell me that You're just a dream
But they don't know You the way that I do
You're the one I live to pursue
Can you catch the wind?
[Can you see God, have you ever seen Him?
I've never seen the wind
I've seen the effects of the wind
But I've never seen the wind]
Can you see the breeze?
[There's a mystery to it]
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
[I see You there again]
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
[I know You'll meet me there my Friend]
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
[I know You're there, I can touch You there]
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
[I want You there, I need You there, I see You there, I know You care]
[And I believe, and I believe, and I believe]

Just getting back from Memphis and trying to catch up a bit tonite...it's good to be back where I can read the Pray For President Bush posts, they are always inspiring! Please pray for a fellow drag racer tonite as well, Todd Goodman, he suffered a broken neck in a very violent crash last Sunday and although I do not know him well I know him well enough to know he is a good guy.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Welcome back. We join you in praying for Todd Goodman.
I know he and his family appreciate that very much, Thank You.
And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made confession, and said,
O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land.
"O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this dayto the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.
O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You. To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him. We have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him. And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem.
As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth. Therefore the LORD has kept the disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice.
"And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day we have sinned, we have done wickedly!
O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us. Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lords sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate.
"O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies.
"O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.
AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!
GRACE TO ALL BRETHREN!
"Love is strong as death."
- Song of Solomon 8:6
Whose love can this be which is as mighty as the conqueror of monarchs,
the destroyer of the human race? Would it not sound like satire if it were
applied to my poor, weak, and scarcely living love to Jesus my Lord? I do
love him, and perhaps by his grace, I could even die for him, but as for
my love in itself, it can scarcely endure a scoffing jest, much less a
cruel death. Surely it is my Beloved's love which is here spoken of-the
love of Jesus, the matchless lover of souls. His love was indeed stronger
than the most terrible death, for it endured the trial of the cross
triumphantly. It was a lingering death, but love survived the torment; a
shameful death, but love despised the shame; a penal death, but love bore
our iniquities; a forsaken, lonely death, from which the eternal Father
hid his face, but love endured the curse, and gloried over all. Never such
love, never such death. It was a desperate duel, but love bore the palm.
What then, my heart? Hast thou no emotions excited within thee at the
contemplation of such heavenly affection? Yes, my Lord, I long, I pant to
feel thy love flaming like a furnace within me.
Come thou thyself and excite the ardour of my spirit.
"For every drop of crimson blood
Thus shed to make me live,
O wherefore, wherefore have not I
A thousand lives to give?"
Why should I despair of loving Jesus with a love as strong as death? He
deserves it: I desire it. The martyrs felt such love, and they were but
flesh and blood, then why not I? They mourned their weakness, and yet out
of weakness were made strong.
Grace gave them all their unflinching constancy-there is the same grace
for me.
Jesus, lover of my soul, shed abroad such love, even thy love in my
heart, this evening.
