I like and respect President Bush and voted for him twice. I also voted for his father twice. And while he holds some conservative positions, I never saw him as committed to the cause as many of the best conservatives I have come to know throughout my life. Thus, to me he has NEVER been THE leader in the conservative movement, but a leader. He is President of the United States and Leader of the Republican Party, but he is not THE leader among conservatives.
If he doesn't stop twisting the arms of Republicans and withdraw this nomination, his presidency and leadership, will continue to plummet.
Interesting statistic I heard today...50% of Americans believe President Bush should be impeached. It is something about which GW should be ever mindful.
Yeah, yeah, we know what side you're on.
I figured out how he can deal with that. Even if the House impeaches, the Constitution doesn't say teh Senate MUST have a trial. All it says is the Senate has the sole power to do so.
So if the Senate just keep the articles of impeachment off the calendar, he's safe. /tongue in cheek.
An example I use to illustrate the danger of literal reading of the constitution to justify the 60 vote hurdle as "within the rules."
