One of the major sources of income in the region is tourism (water spas and skiing resorts). This place - Kabardino-Balkaria is beautiful place. Nalchik is situated a bit like Denver - at the foothills of beautiful mountains. Kavkas (or Caucasses) mountains are truly great place for skiing and such. (Guaranteed snowfall).

These Islamic guerillas are dooming the local population for poverty. One more attack like this and no one will come skiing this winter, the local people will find themselves in dire straits. It is either the calculated move or the utter stupidity.

I remember reading somewhere that radical Islam and modern economics are incompatible.
