American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group

American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group

Possibly some of you have daughters who play with the American Girl dolls or read their books. You may even be thinking about buying a doll or books for Christmas. Well, it turns out American Girl (owned by Mattel) is partnering with a group called Girls Inc. to sell a bracelet, the "I Can" band, which financially supports Girls Inc. Seventy cents of every purchase goes to Girls Inc. The band is sold on the American Girl webpage with a large ad and a link to the Girls Inc. webpage. In addition, the webpage says American Girl is giving $50,000 to Girls, Inc.

The problem here is that Girls Inc. has on their webpage a statement saying they particularly support abortion and a girl's right to abort an unwanted baby. They were quite clear about their support for Roe, so there is no mistake or room for confusion on that count. Additionally, Girls Inc. supports contraceptives for girls.

They also support and offer resources encouraging lesbian and bi-sexual lifestyles, actually offering resources for girls. One of their publications states, "The emergence of a lesbian identity is an ongoing process, rather than an event."

Of course, American Girl itself is a separate company, unrelated to Girls, Inc. except now by webpage and the seventy cents on every bracelet. I checked out the Girls, Inc. website, and it is exactly as I have told you. Below are some direct links, so that you can see them for yourself.

Please send them an email expressing your disappointment and let American Girl president Ellen Brothers know the company's decision casts a great shadow over their trustworthiness to put the welfare of girls and children first.

Our daughter is upset - she is 13. The magazine was the last clean fun mag for girls. There is no better alternative.

What's that magazine ya'all get? Brio, I think? Would you describe it to Kentucky, please?

Yep, Brio, but I'm not sure if it's for everyone since it is a Christian focus mag. I used to get American Girl back in the 70's and even then they talked about sex and dating and stuff like it was a good and normal thing for young girls. It was Cosmo light.

I'm surprised and disappointed that American Girl has not yet responded to the pressure. My wife felt sure they would say something after the response from the customer service woman yesterday.

They can't possibly think we'll be ok that the funds donated to an inherently political (and in my mind, evil) group will be earmarked for good purposes. Their sales will plummet. My wife was going to take our granddaughter into NYC over Christmas vacation to have tea in the AG store. But now she thinks they'll go to Radio City instead. But they could bring all these folks back if they just severed their ties with this radical, feminist group. What are they thinking?

I cannot overstate how angry this has made me.

It's so very sad, really. Who is making the decisions at that company that they would be so out of touch with their target audience?

it's not that they want abortions themselves (obviously). Lesbians have rejected their God-given sexuality, and thus what their reproductive organs were made for. Because of deep-seated emotional issues, these lesbians (especially the activist ones) are opposed to much of what defines true feminity.

The ultimate act of feminity is to bear children. Thus, you have an allegiance between lesbians and anti-life forces to do what they can to destroy this aspect of true womanhood.

Thanks - this is the second article about this; I'll read this one and the thread later.

Influencing children is what it's all about.

Weird school break. Grandma is getting transfused so the school day got jacked. We finished a little bit ago. I've missed talking to you!

Skulking about their site gathering intel, they also give to the United Way, IIRC, they do support many causes of the homosexual lobby as well. Come to think of it, from one Freeper's post on this topic from yesterday, maybe I ought to write a story about "Debbie Neverborn" or "Debbie Aborted" ("Neverborn" is a character from "Faithmouse," don't want to step on their toes) who was born, well she was scheduled to be born in 1973 until she was aborted. She is happy to be at home with the Lord but as time goes on Earth, Debbie can comment on what she could have been if she had lived as her mother ages and perhaps she has other kids and so on. There is a small group of writers and aspiring writers here on FR, myself, I just write role playing games for the fun of it but perhaps I ought to give this a try. I'd love to submit it to American Girls but I doubt it wouldn't meet their "writer's guidlines" but it would be nice to induce a little guilt in some of them over there. Being a history junky and from what I know of American Girls, little as it is, I figured it would be a good history lesson for all but with this crap, well, it ruined it. It would be like coming out with "American Boys" where the idea is to promote the bad side of men and boys like drinking, carousing, beating up on women and anyone else, sort of like Marlon Brando's 1953 motorcycle movie, "The Wild One," on steroids and updated for the 21st Century. Of course it would be shouted down and deservedly so, but in a subtle way, it seems like we are seeing an advocacy for those things on the female sites as the ones we are describing now. Geez, ain't nothing sacred, it's a shame this poison is spreading everywhere. B-(

My youngest daughter used to read all the "American Girl" books and begged me to buy her the dolls, but they were too expensive.

My granddaughters have never asked for "American Girl" products. I guess that is because one of them is a "Canadian Girl" and two are "Russian Girls."

Well put. I was being silly and you brought a new way for me to argue about this subject. Thanks.

Here is a link to the American Girl website...which states their support for Girl Inc.

Damn! It's the only decent toy for girls out there.

You'd think the money was going to pay for Planned Parenthood fliers or to enroll girls in Wiccan classes. Nah, the money goes to programs to build math, science and athletic skills and develop leadership ability. Pretty sick stuff.
