A Georgia Tech student confessed to placing three explosive devices between two dorms and will be charged in the case, authorities said during a Tuesday afternoon news conference.
The student, 18-year-old freshman engineering major Theodore Hollot, has been suspended from the school pending a school disciplinary review, according to Georgia Tech Assistant Vice President Amelia Gambino.
Police will be charging Hollot with misdemeanor reckless conduct, and possession of a destructive device, which is a felony under Georgia law.
Georgia Tech Police investigators took Hollot in for questioning early Tuesday morning, according to an Atlanta police spokeswoman. During the course of their interview, they changed their characterization of Hollot from witness to suspect.
Hollot confessed to dropping the explosive devices from his dorm window as a joke.

I don't think he's Al Qaeda material.
What is it with engineering students????
I think he is a few bricks shy of having a full load.
Thank God we have the Patriot Act to put this college freshman away forever.
Not even two months into school and this joker pulls this? I would have that kid in the Army so fast it would make his head spin. On the bright side, working on a military squad might teach him a lesson.
Nail his little a$$ to the wall.
This fool should have to pay Jim R. for the bandwidth wasted on FR.
"[LOCAL] police will be charging Hollott with misdeameanor reckless conduct, and possession of a destructive device, which is a felony under Georgia [GEORGIA] law."
Patriot Act??? Clearly NOT.
Where has the sense of morality gone in our youth?
I long for the good ol' days when kids would do more wholesome things like heating up quarters with a blow torch and leaving them in the hallway for other kids to "find" and pick up.
(Of course, today most kids would not bend over to pick up a quarter. And the trick is kind of hard to do with a dollar bill.)
No kidding.
But it probably would have simply meant more time bashing Harriet Meirs.
Bingo!
And plenty of folks, including the local PD and many here, have tried to elevate this to "*TERRORIST INCIDENT*" < DUM DUM DUM-style bass-heavy scary music here>
Did someone forget to teach this guy that jokes are supposed to be funny?

Ah, a fitting punishment! LOL

Did you even RTFA?
"It is a terrorist act at this point and depending on the outcome of the investigation it potentially could become a federal violation as well," Major C.W. Moss of the Atlanta Police Department said Monday....
...Numerous agencies, namely the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Tech Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force, were on the Georgia Tech campus to help in the investigation.
I thought the origional story included at least one body?
Hmmmm.
yeah...like putting a sack of cow manure in a paper bag and putting in front of somebody's front door, lighting it on fire, ringing the doorbell just to watch them stomp it out and get cow poop all over their legs....
or.... getting thick piano wire and tying two trash cans across the street from each other and watching cars catch the wire on their bumpers and have the cans clanging down the road banging into the car....
or having your buddy sit across the street from you and just as a car is pulling between you.. you jump up and pretend to pull an "invisible rope" and watch the car brake to a stop.....
or not...
You'd think so, from some of the posts.
If you're serious, you're probably confusing this GT thing, with the OU possible suicide bomber, which is a serious event meriting significant scrutiny that it is not getting from the MSM.
Ok, keep going, I'm not laughing yet.
