During the 11:00 p.m. (CST) newsbreak, Donna Fuducia reported that Karl Rove told James Dobson that 80% of the potential SCOTUS nominees on the President's list declined his offer because of they didn't want to undergo the grueling confirmation process. Perhaps this sheds new light on the reason why W chose Miers.
Maybe they didn't want to be trashed on FR.
After the savage beating his other nominees have taken, I can't say I'm suprised.
Not necessarily...maybe the other 20% lean left of Miers.
It's a fight I wouldn't personally want unless I was replacing Stevens or Ginsberg. That shift would be worth the trouble.
And you are assuming that there were 25 nominees on the list!!! I doubt that they were that many. I will say five or six, maximum 10.
THAT makes sense. Of the women, POTUS decided Miers was the reliable vote.
Even if this is true, the remaining 20% still would have been a better choice than Miers.
I don't think he is on the list
This is the demoncrats reason for being. Like what Saddam Hussein did to Kuwait, theirs is a scorched earth policy.
They know they have no ideas and are corrupt and anyone with a sane choice should not vote for them.
But they figure, if they can "persuade" the other side to give up, they can occupy the vacuum.
Well, it'll be intesting to see, assuming we ever do get to see the names.
Just for that figure to exist, they must have asked 4 other people before Miers accepted: 4/5 = 80%.
Or were it 8 out of 10 who declined.......(?)
I'm starting to get a whiff of steer manure. This looks like more WH spin on why this sorry pick "has to be confirmed."
It was told to Doctor Dobson two days before the nominee was annouced.
Would YOU go through this? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Yes I would and I would relish the "challenge". I think Judge Roberts had fun running circles with the Democrat senators and I would too.
That seems really stupid to let that out by the way. Makes the Democrats think they are successful at scaring potential justices.
You don't even know who they remaining names were
I think this could be the basis for the buzz in the blog tonight that Miers was a last minute pick because the first or second picks nixed Bush.
I think this information is consistent with the information in this story, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/1500781/posts?page=69 which states that part of the Miers pick seems to be a confused process and a rush job, which adds credibility to the rumor of a last minute back out.
I'm wrong, if the list had narrowed to women only and I think that makes sense.
Priscilla Owen had dropped. I posted the link to that article here a day or two ago.
Yes, it would be very interesting; unfortunately, I don't think the WH would release them for privacy reasons.
It's not. If you read the transcript of Dobson, he was talking about when they narrowed it down to women only.

Ah, now that makes sense. Most women are not raised to embrace confrontation.
