Does anyone think that the OU bomber, the bomb at UCLA, and the one in Atlanta could have been planted as a test of our response and reactions? A probing attack? Also what better way to see how police and 1st responders react then to have a phony threat on the subway.
Any thoughts?
If it is, they are looking for another New Orleans, no doubt.
You imply the enemy is organized and intelligent.
But that does not really seem to be the case. It would be foolish to expect our current enemies to have to the order and displine that you saw in, say, the Communist Party. They are more like a bunch of idiots running around blowing up things at random while posting blowhard manifestos on the internet.
Sounds reasonable to me.
I dont know if this is related in any way, but this very moment Fox News is showing a standoff in Lawrenceville, GA - possible explosive device in a house. SWAT teams are there.
Where is Lawrenceville, GA located?
I don't think it's as organized as that. I think it's more a "cry wolf" strategy. Continue lots of misinformation and small things until the American public doesn't pay any attention to the warnings/hype.
The enemy IS organized and intelligent.
Al Qaeda is not our only enemy.
Don't forget about China, Iran, N. Korea, etc.
All of these have the capability to probe our defenses.
When I was in college, our dorm repeatedly had fire drills in the dead of winter and we had to stand outside shivering in our pajamas until the drill was over. By the end of the semester, no one was leaving their rooms for these drills anymore. By that time, had there been a real fire, I'd have burned alive.

This is the sort of thinking that got us into Pearl Harbor, i.e., the Japanese could not make airplanes on their own, and besides all of their pilots are near sighted.
No time for twaddle, these folks want to kill us. I'm taking them seriously.

- I think you underestimate what we are dealing with.
I agree that suicide bombers and most terrorists in general lack a certain degree of intelligence, but they make up for it with patience, planning and raw hatred. 9/11, Spain, London and others took a high degree of planning and coordination to pull off, though it doesn't take a rocket scientist to fly a plane into a building or pull a string on a backsack. Intelligence level isn't always necessary to do what they do.
Another point to consider is the fact that unlike the Soviets, terrorists answer to no earthly master, are responsible to no one, and are driven by fanatical ideology without scruples and are not guided by national accountability or interests. These traits make them more dangerous, harder to find and the nationalities they hail from less culpable.
The only way to defeat these people is to completely destroy and make a mockery of the ideology they operate under. That Ideology is in fact Islam. Islam needs to be destroyed, and can be by shedding light on the wickedness of its founding prophet and ideology of hatred and intolerance found within it's writing, teaching and history.
This can only happen when enough of us know this truth, force our government, judiciary, media and education systems to drop the PC garbage they operate from and join the true war we need to wage...they ideology war.
This war will eventually be won with the pen rather than with military might though many lives will be lost in the process. Most likely, a hugely disproportionate number of them will be Muslims, due to the fact that we (America and the West) are far more capable of dealing death in large numbers than they are and we will probably be forced to do so by increasing Muslim aggression and atrocities. It will take one large event, like a nuked city, to whip this country into a ferocious frenzy the likes of which the world has never seen dwarfing in comparison our efforts in WWII.
Also recall that the Air Force Academy had a threat to their stadium back in mid-September. It's in Colorado Springs, which is where the OU bomb guy lived.
Doubt they're all related, but some could be. The one in GA, for example - excuse me if I'm wrong - involved pop bottles, and you could make a case that this kind of thing goes on all the time; you can't really connect it as it's so common. I'll bet there were a hundred incidents like this all over the place that don't get picked up by the media. On the other hand, using something like pop bottles, being relatively common, is a good way to keep the glaze over people's eyes ("oh - another pop bottle. So what?").
Interesting, though, that places of higher edoocashun are increasingly reported on. Oklahoma has, of course, been a target before.
East of Atlanta...suburbs
Terrorists 9/11 and after
Shark attacks
Missing persons (Aruba, Runaway Bride, etc)
West Nile Virus
Bird Flu/Avian Flu
Drug War
