Arnold Schwarzenegger on Hannity & Colmes (FOX)
opinion | 10-10-2005 | brianbaldwin

Did you hear ‘em on Hannity & Colmes? Wow! He’s always a hit, that is a fact. And forget the polls – did you hear him? Did ya? He said we are going to win, he’s going to get the word out, and convince California, I LOVE his enthusiasm! He painted a tapestry of reform and rejuvenation for California. Ninety-nine percent of all “stars” are perfectly boring – but not Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger! I remember, it was about 6 days or so out from the Gubernatorial election in California, for some reason I had local S.F. Bay Area channel 5 “Eye-witness News” on, with some poll, and being told what’s his name Bustamonte (not even sure how to spell his name anymore) was leading by like 6 points … in the end Arnold blew him out and the polls were poll-sheet. And unlike Bush, he’s not afraid to take on the question of illegal immigration in California.

On Hannity & Colmes, he shows he wants to take on illegal immigration, and he wants to control spending in the State, not to be too harping on the point but Bush is off the map on too many of these issues including spending, unlike Arnold.

I think Arnold is more of a conservative than Bush.

Right now, I’m looking at Rudy Giuliani, Tancredo, R-Colo, I love Rice as female candidate (I agree with Morris on FOX) … and I know Arnold can’t run, that is according to the Constitution as it is, wish he could.

I’m full out supporting the Governor’s reform measures, with money and time. I hope all Californians who care will help out as well, and VOTE ARNOLD SECOND TERM.

Was Hannity giggling like a school girl?

I met Arnold before he became very famous. He was exactly the same as he was talking to Hannity.

He was selling his book "Pumping Iron" and had a gang of people around him listening in rapt attention. Mostly women. I could understand most of what he was saying because I have a good ear for such things. His accent was very heavy back then but he was so excited that the crowd was getting bigger and bigger. I knew who he was because I was a weight lifter but most of the people didn't and they were just mesmerized by him.

Nice guy. You could tell he was going to "be somebody". He's shorter in person than you would expect.....

Samething when I met William Shatner of Star Trek, he turned out to be shorter than I imagined. But Arnold is big in heart, big with ideas of hope, intelligent, and unafraid of taking on what comes, and he is also a winner. What is really funny, is those Bushies drolling in their shirt. But what can you say? I don't worship Arnold, but for sure I think these Bushies have a lit-up platic Jesus statue of Bush like what you would see from the Midnight Cowboy movie, they are really strange some of them. Let 'em vote for another Bush again, not me. Not again, will never vote for anyone named "Bush" again. Let 'em droll in their shirt if they even think they have a chance, the folks who bust their butt to make candidates winners won't be working with them, not this time. Here's a ukulele for them. Got pulled away from the forum for a few minutes to watch George "I'm quitting the NRA" Bush senior on FOX, and again you could see that with them, it all about family, all about themselves, all about their campies ... like Miers for example, just typical. After hearing him, it reminded me again why I won't vote for another Bush. I don't hate Bush, don't have a big harp on him, I just want to forget about Bush et all and get the Republican Party back on track. The Bush family, they don't have what it takes to do that, not now.

VOTE ARNOLD SECOND TERM

I think Arnold is more of a conservative than Bush.

In a fiscal sense, I'd almost agree, but not in any other way. Arnold's a good guy and I think he's doing a lot of good for California, but he's still a gun-grabbing social liberal.

I voted for Tom McClintock, but I must admit, I am pleased with the progress Arnold has made. I love his speeches too. He has so much charisma and appeal. He makes you excited about what he's excited about. I can't wait to vote next month. My next door neighbor is a flaming on fire liberal with a NO on Prop 75 sign in his yard. (That's the one about unions not being able to take your dues for political contributions without your consent.)

I am optimistic that the parental notification law will pass. I think Californians are fed up. There are more normal people here than you might think. :)

Lots of hostility there, Brian. And, your solution for the getting the "Republican Party back on track" is Arnold?

I'm hoping Arnold will win a second term. Sadly, based on polls, I think Californians have a short memory. They seem to have forgotten how close to bankruptcy the state was before Arnold took over. The Dem's, the unions, the MSM all want to return to business as usual.
