Could be... IIRC in the interview with his father aired on MSNBC he said that Joel bought artillery shells through EBay. I'm searching as we speak for that specific comment. (Adding more info to my blog right now, so I'm in and out of FR. I'll reply to posts as I see them. (o: )

Doesn't this make you think even more than before that "character matters"? Character most definitely matters in a public official, because if such an official has skeletons in his closet, and they are discovered, he is beholden to whomever is privy.
This is what I strongly suspect is the case with Boren/OU/Norman/OKC. Terrorist cells have existed in that area since 1991, since Iraqi Republican Guards were resettled there after the Gulf War. Boren has been at OU since 1994. The Murrah bombing happened in 1995. The Islamist involvement in that bombing was covered up and the cells continue to operate. The Hinrichs bombing is just the latest episode in a continuing saga. Why are those cells allowed to continue to operate? Why are Muslims so protected at OU? Why does it seem they can get away with any damn thing that they want in that area?
I've been pussyfooting around the issue, but what the hell, let the cards fall where they may:
http://members.aol.com/mpwright9/boren.html
http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?read=68197
To paraphrase FNC, I post, you decide. I know what I have decided.
If all of this is true, Boren's behavior is the result of much more than not wishing to insult the Muslim community, or lose their donations, or jeopardize the football season. He is jumping through hoops for those who know his secret and could destroy his public image. The end result is the continued tolerance of terrorist cells embedded in our heartland and a great threat to our national security.

A little background info on Norman, Oklahoma from 1991 to the present. The list in red is from the verboten web site (which is approved of by Jayna Davis). What follows in black is my own.
MANY PATHS SEEM TO INTERSECT IN NORMAN, OKLAHOMA
- In early July 2000, Mohammed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi visited the Airman Flight School in Norman, Oklahoma.
- On or about 29 September, 2000, Zacharias MOUSSAOUI contacted Airman Flight School in Norman, Oklahoma using an e-mail account he set up on September 6 with an internet service provider in Malaysia.
- On or about 26 February 2001, Zacharias MOUSSAOUI opened a bank account in Norman, Oklahoma where he deposited approximately $32,000 in cash.
- Between 26 February 2001 and 29 May 2001, MOUSSAOUI attended the Airman Flight School in Norman, Oklahoma, ending his classes early.
- Osama Bin Laden's personal pilot, Ihab al Nawawi, also attended Airman Flight School in Norman, in 1993. Al Nawawi was later charged in connection with the 1998 US Embassy bombings in Africa that were carried out by Al Qaeda.
- And more recently...26 September 2005: A University of Oklahoma student charged with bringing an explosive device to an airport pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in federal court in Oklahoma City. Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr. of Norman, Oklahoma faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine at a future sentencing hearing. Dreyling, 24, was arrested in August at the Will Rogers World Airport after security personnel noticed a suspicious object in his carryon bag as he was leaving for a family vacation with his parents. He later told FBI agents the device -- a modified carbon dioxide cartridge filled with gunpowder -- was "basically a pipe bomb," according to court papers that he had forgotten was in his bag. (Former Oklahoma City, OK Mayor Kirk Humphreys-- who was also DREYLING'S landlord-- spoke on behalf of DREYLING at his bail hearing).
- On a bus trip to the University of Oklahoma, Zacharias MOUSSAOUI was on the same bus as Nicholas BERG, the American man who was beheaded in Iraq in 2004 by Islamic terrorists. At some point on that trip, MOUSSAOUI asked BERG if he could use BERG'S laptop computer. Government sources said BERG gave the MOUSSAOUI his computer password...
- September 11 hijacker Ziad Jarrahs ticket (United Airlines Flight 93) was purchased from a computer terminal at Oklahoma University.
- Norman, OK is also cited on a number of occasions in the best-selling book, the most comprehensive investigative work by Jayna Davis titled The Third Terrorist, about the truck bomb blast that killed 171 souls and destroyed the Murrah Federal Building on 19 April 1995 (An absolute MUST read).
Norman's role in Islamist terrorism goes further back than the OKC bombing in '95. It all starts in '91, right after the Gulf War, when thousands of Iraqi Republican Guards who stood down were given asylum by the US and resettled in and around OKC because Saddam would kill them if they stayed in Iraq. Regrettably, the resettled RG were nothing more than a trojan horse, enemy agents transplanted into our heartland and still working for Saddam while pretending to be defectors.
The Gulf War never ended. We signed a cease-fire and kept our end of the bargain, but Saddam continued hostilities throughout the 90's in the only way he could -- through terrorism. And he linked with Al Qaeda to do it, each one fighting on a different front but with much cross-pollination centered in Norman. So what has happened since '91?
1) WTC '93, masterminded by Iraqi agent Ramzi Yousef
2) OKC '95, by Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols, but aided by Iraqi agents
3) TWA 800, probably by Al Qaeda
4) Embassies in Africa, by Al Qaeda
5) U.S.S. Cole, by Al Qaeda
6) 9/11, by Al Qaeda, but executed in a manner remarkably similar to Yousef's Project Bojinka to finish what Yousef started back in '93.
For twelve years, we sat and waited for the UN to do its inspections while Saddam continued fighting and Al Qaeda joined the battle. And Klintoon fiddled through it all, while the sheeple failed to connect the dots right in front of their faces.
When GW started the Iraq War in 2003, he was simply resuming hostilities on our side and doing what Klintoon should have done but avoided like the plague. The Iraq War isn't a new war. It isn't even Gulf War Part Two. It is a resumption of the Gulf War after twelve years of cease-fire constantly violated by Saddam with both weapons inspections shenanigans and terrorist actions. Saddam is now out of the war, but Al Qaeda continues it. It needs to be finished, no matter what it takes, no matter how long.

And so, why is all this tolerated? Why are these cells still there? Why do they feel it is safe to continue to operate there? Why, even now, is yet another incident in the area being glossed over, with desperate editorials seeking to shut down all objections to the spin?
Why?
The answer, I'm sure, is no mystery to David Boren.

Incidents at Georgia Tech and also in LA this week suggest a pattern.
To: HitmanNY
You're right about that and IMHO it needs to be reported widely at this point. Kids on these campuses need to be aware that they should report any suspicious activities, and not take their safety for granted.
(Also note the incident in which 3 devices were found in East Chicago, IN on I-94 in the trunk of a car. Those devices too (like at GA Tech were designed to go off when handled). Police were alerted to that car because someone saw an altercation between the driver and the woman in his car. She was the one who told police about the devices in the back. Not sure if it is related to all of this, but it's worth a mention due to the bottles found in the back of Hinrichs car.)

Yes. The media has been absent on this developing story, and the government seems to have a 'none of your business' posture about this.
I have an open mind and am willing to wait for more facts, but it's clear that the standard policy with the feds is to declare incident's as 'not terrrorist related' even before they hit the scene.
Ultimately, if this is a pattern it won't be limited to three campuses and if it hits the fan they will have no choice but to call it what it is. Their reluctance to tell us things isn't encouraging. Do you think if the rest of the 911 planes were quietly foiled after the first plane hit the WTC, we would have just been told it was a terrible accident/suicidal depressed pilot/human error/whatever?
I do.
To: HitmanNY
Even after the second plane had hit the second tower, CNN was still claiming that it was navigational error. And when the first plane hit, everyone was saying it was a small private plane, even though you could see from the large gaping hole that it must have been a jet.

Anyone who hasn't yet done so, please click the links in laz' post above. I think the info contained therein is key to the strangeness in Norman.

Hi everyone,
I think I discovered a likely answer for who wrote this editorial!!!
None other than... TARIQ ALZOUBI! You remember the one who said Cheema - "MIGHT" be a Pakistani, and was an "ATHEIST" and the one that the paper pushing the OU/FBI story interviewed???
He's an opinion column writer at OK DAILY! I think now we can truly tell who's "side" Ch. 5 is on all of this!
Tariq is a truly interesting person. He co-composed an OU Student Website about oil and the current war in the middle east and also listed as a "composer" on the page is
"Mohamed Jihad" ?!?!?! (I kid you not).
He also wrote an opinion piece about Al-Jazeera, and a letter to the editor of the Arab Times in which he talks about the "West" pushing "us" around. (The lte was written less than a month ago).
Please see the information and links I've got posted in my summary. here Just scroll down to his name Tariq Alzoubi and you'll see all the info and appropriate links.
I apologize for not posting the direct links here, but I've got to get to bed soon, and I just finished updating the info at my blog.

Well, well, well... it certainly is a small world, isn't it? I suppose it's just a coincidence that Tariq is the guy who claimed Cheema is an atheist, conveniently denying any connection there might be between Fazal and Islamofacism.
I'd say there's more to Mr. Alzoubi than meets the eye. And you've already uncovered enough to have my eyes wide open.
