Just mentioned this on the Rush thread- IF I have to plug my nose in '08- I'd do it for Rudy- NOT McCain. Mind you- time was when I absolutely loved Jon McCain...voted for him in the primaries..but no more.

Well... say what you want, he did support and campaign for Bush in the '04 election. Bush did all he could to be seen with McCain at election events.
While I definitely don't agree with him on some major issues, I'm more scared of Hillary in the oval office than him.

Arizona Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record) is considering a 2008 run for president

I think his chances are good. In Venezuela.

In the primaries mcpain (media) Az will get his ass kicked along with Rudy Who?
The media knows nothing about Republican primary voters, and they actually think we care what they think. It's hilarious but they do.

I can't agree with that...
McCain is far more pro-life than Rudy. Rudy is a flat out social liberal... heck, he even supported Mario Cuomo over the current governor of NY. And as you know, Cuomo is the ultimate liberal...

He won't take the #2 spot as IF he has a choice...LMAO. I won't be voting for him, period. I despise him and his RINO-ism. I've had enough. Will hold out for George Allen or possibly Rick Perry or some strong conservative. I'm sick to death of mcVain.

He showed courage in captivity. Like John Glenn, he became just another politician. What a waste.

"Yes, because I only signed up today and I don't despise McCain, I MUST be a troll, right? *rolls eyes*"

You may genuinely like McCain AND be a conservative. However, let me warn you, the vast majority of Free Republic members do not like or trust McCain. In fact, you will have a very hard time on these message boards defending the undefendable.

Free Republic members are genuine conservatives and have been burned and tarred by that RINO McCain.

Too much to dislike with this guy.

What a coincidence...I'm considering staying home Nov. 4, 2008. I think it's going to be really, really, really cold that day.

At first, I thought McCain's statement, "I spent all those years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, kept in the dark, fed scraps, why the hell would I want to do that all over again?" was a parody, an 'Onion' quote maybe, too over-the-top to be real, but no. He said it.

Several Vice Presidents have ascended to the Presidency: some good (Truman), some bad (Johnson--either one). It is a position deserving of respect. The Vice President exercises enormous potential power that is sometimes realized. Even then, within the limits of that office, a Vice President can sometimes transcend the boundaries--our current VP, for example, has carved out an influential niche as confidant and adviser possessing enormous clout when major policy decisions are being made. Demeaning that office as inconsequential shows an amazing lack of historical grasp.

The thought of McCain wielding any kind of real power gives me chills. This man has no business anywhere near the White House.
