Here is a pic from yesterday's rally. Pictured, left to right, Kenzie, my niece, Aleesha, Kenzie's friend, Me and Mom (Edytha). Below are pics of the banner I painted on 10-8-05 while it was still taped to the wall in the hallway.

It's a good painting, but the number of leaves on the olive branch and the number of arrows should both be 13...........

Yep, I did, though I did it hurriedly. If you look closely at the second pic, you can just see the side of my little guy on the right. He's one of seven, so if I'm to paint, hurriedly is about the only way it can be done. :) Wish I'd had more time to pay more attention to my lines...the writing went uphill and is off-center. But, hey, I was just happy people knew the bird was an eagle! LOL

Thanks, Squirrel! :)

Thank you, Badger. I did not know that, though I should have. I sketched the eagle while looking at a .gif on my computer, just copying what I saw. I'll definitely see what I can do about correcting it before it's unfurled in public again. Good thing I have lots of gesso - the miracle cover-up goo! LOL

Spit my coffee out on this one! ROFL! What the hell does that second sign even say?! I can't read it. Can you?

There is a reason for it. The Olive branch in the Eagle's right (viewed left) claw signify the original 13 states unity in offering peace to all, but if not possible, then, the 13 arrows of the eagle's left claw were unified and ready to defend and protect the people...........

It says:

STAY AWAY FROM THE BROWN ACID!

Thank you much, newfrpr! We had a blast at the rally and even shed a few tears. Compared to the groups I've seen during my "demonstratin' days," this one was HUGE. I guessed on the way home that there were probably 150 to 200 people in attendance. Mom and Dad both agreed. Looks like my guestimate was about right according to the local news reporting.

The tour bus drivers in DC have running gag when they take students to the Marine Corps Memorial. It's pretty large and with the figures crowded together, it's not easy to count how many people are depicted.

They ask the kids, "How many Marines are on the monument?"

It's a trick question because one of the people was a Navy Corpsman. Marine medics are actually Navy Corpsman.

Navy aircrews are taught about the effects of hypoxia while taken
to altutude in a man rated altitude (i.e., vacuum) chamber. At altitude, a subject will
remove their mask and be given a clipboard and told to keep signing
their name.

This looks just like the effect of a lack of oxygen on the brain.

Maybe if you redo the message part, do as four lines?

Land Of The
FREE
Because Of The
BRAVE

Of course center the text. Also, since you have two thoughts, use red on the first part and blue on the second, or vice versa.

Wish I had your artistic skills.

Could you do a "Peace Symbol" overlayed with a Hammer and Sickle? I'm thinking the outside edge of the Peace Sign is the inside edge of the Sickle. Yellow sheet, black Peace Symbols and red Hammer and Sickle.

Thank you, Conservatish, for your labor of love in painting such a beautiful banner. If you do follow Raoul's suggestion about the lettering, may I suggest that you use darker shades of paint so they will stand out more clearly. Your message is so true. The contrast with the whiner's message couldn't be clearer--their sign is a loser too!
