Explosive devices found on the GA Tech campus.
Having finally read the previous posts, I see that "Midvale" has been discussed here. It appears that Freerepublic is now the only readily available source of info on the subject.
Only moderately dangerous. If they were at maximum pressure already, they would have burst long before being deposited in the dumpster. The chemicals themselves are ordinary grocery store items. The plastic fragments could not travel far.
Campus cops are unqualified for anything up to and including pouring piss from a boot.
In ref. to the bird flu post:
Don't take this the wrong way(I detest wacko environmentalists) but u ever get the feeling that NONE of our food is safe anymore? First mercury, etc. in fish, Madcow in beef, now avain flu in fowl, not to mention the hundreds of 'scares' we have had about vegies, fruits and milk...what are we going to eat in the future? I am thinking about just stocking drips for the end times...lol
You said it!
"If you are actually seeking election or are in support of someone who is, I hope you support justice rather than idiotic application of unqualified rules. I would also hope that you have read the Founding documents so that you are operating in the Spirit of a true American."
Just FYI: I'm not currently seeking office, nor am I actively involved in any political campaign at this time, nor intend to be in the forseeable future. (o:
Personally, I think "zero-tolerance" is a joke - a cruel one. Also, I firmly support adherence by our government to the US Constitution which they are making a mockery of right now, IMHO. Most recently I was a member of the Libertarian Party - a conservative with libertarian leanings I could be called at this point. I'm not actively a member of any party.
I agree that it shouldn't have been regarded as a prank by any means even though the device was very small, and I was very upset at the time (still am over 4 years later) that it was not treated as seriously as it should've been. I only wish I had better vision and could've caught the license plate of the pickup truck as it sped off... they actually slowed down to see the explosion - 4-5 kids in the back of that pickup truck. This happened in Westminster, CO (August of 2001).
BTW: I was also assaulted during that campaign (related? who knows), as was another campaign worker from a different campaign. (I a Libertarian at the time, and the other worker a democrat). Tin foil is required to link the two in any real sense, but stranger things have happened - and I'm not blaming Republicans! LOL
NO lefse, No deal!
Actually the one who said considerably dangerous depending upon the circumstances was a Major in the Atlanta Police Dept. They do state that these particular ones didn't pose much of a threat. Not made with enough materials apparently. They don't know for sure how many bottles inside the bag were filled with explosive materials, except 2 others they are sure of.
I didn't transcribe the whole thing, so feel free to watch yourself, and please correct anything I've stated if I've misspoken.
You can see the press conference at this link:

"The expert (don't know who exactly it was) said that if they are exploded say inside a bus it could easily kill 100 to 150 people..."
Man, that is one HUGE bus! Must be a stretch bus, maybe with a hot tub. (That expert is clearly an idiot)
I don't know who it was but it was on FOX News Friday or Saturday of last week. I'll try to find out. I wouldn't necessarily consider him an idiot - just look at the bus that burned coming out of Houston. Of course, there were oxygen tanks on the bus but still - it burned completely. I'll have to backtrack and ask the person who posted this comment who FOXNews was speaking to.
You might be on to something....dispersal/mixing system tryout?
A wise choice.
!!
Becki
But did you graduate?
I note that the GA Tech device was a "water bottle," and Hinrichs' car was found to contain "plastic bottles..."
No shrapnel at OU. Might have had a plastic container for the TATP...As thin as 2 liter bottles are now, and as unstable as TATP is fireworks on the outside might be enough...sealed container, cheap, no stink.
Watched the video link(thanks). Frankly, I like the way the Atlanta police and the Georgia Tech are labeling the incident as a 'terrorist act' right off the bat. OU officials should have done the same thing immediately. It would have sent a strong message to other 'troubled' suicide bombers(rolling eyes). Sorry folks, this stuff is serious and needs to be treated that way from the start. The penalties can get sorted out after the arrest. Making things that go boom near other people are just not funny. Just my two cents.
Just found me a new tag line. Can I quote you?
It is also carried by migratory birds. As a bird watcher and somehwhat knowledgeable about such things across continents, this is what freaks me out the most. Apparently, the migratory birds do not suffer from the disease, but they transmit it to domestic & commercial fowl farms. I wonder about duck, geese and turkey hunting in the future if it gets out over here. The media is playing this up for ratings right now, but I am not dismissing it at this point. This country had an avain type flu that killed over 500,000 people in this country alone in the early 1900's. We need to be prepared.
Sure! Now we match!
I'm pretty sure their state terrorism laws are in response to the Olympic Bombing case. Whoever did this is going to be facing serious time, it is an automatic felony in GA.
