Explosive devices found on the GA Tech campus.
Wasn't there a biothreat at Texas Tech last year, or a few years back? Something about missing bacteria?
I think the reason we react so quickly is because of the fear of being sued for every misstep - someone gets injured and the school has laughed it off as a prank and suddenly the school is at fault.
We did a lot of things differently in the past -
A professor took a few samples and then reported them stolen. He was later fired after admitting the story.
Except for two little facts, more recently reported. One, it wasn't water in the bottles, and two, they were salvage fused, that is set to go off when handled. Not the typical college prank.
Perhaps this is just lack of understanding on the part of the reporter of investigator. If you force water into a platic bottle, the bottle expands. Being an elastic material, the bottle will this maintain the water pressure. This presurized system will explode when appropriately released. Not particularly harmfull, just like a hydrostatic test chamber.
This report doesn't mention the firecrackers. Is it possible they were bottles with two different chemicals that, when mixed, explosively expands? That would explain the "going off when handled".
They have to call it a terrorist attack because someone was injured; it makes it more important and might mean DHS dollars for the investigation.
You will have to get past me and my tools to get to the beer....... and I expect you to be wearing a "I will edge for beer" shirt...........
Hmmm, I count two turtlenecks and there's two guys I see that I can't determine what they have on, so there's a definite possibility of four turtlenecks. This could be hugh and series.
Of course! There are appropriate punishments available for causing bodily injury, including jail time and monetary compensation. Terrorism enforcement is just not appropriate. Shame on you.
Believe what you will but don't dare to tell me that I'm wrong for caring or being worried. I'm a Mother and that is my job
We did things more intelligently in the past. Our leaders and our fellow citizens were evidently of greater quality back then. I feel sad for the loss of a once great Nation.
Looks like a custodian picked up one of the things and it was injured when it blew. Post #188...
Our PCUSA has been putting up a valiant effort against the liberals for the 15 years we've been members.
But if there was an OPC nearby, we'd be there.
Speaking of mother's cooking abilities -- my brother said if it weren't for Dad saying grace over the food Mom's cooking would have killed all of us....
One of the devices exploded, injuring the custodian who found them inside a plastic bag. Two others were detonated by a bomb squad.
The custodian found the three devices about 9 a.m. in a plastic-type garbage bag, Moss said. When he picked up the bag, one exploded, as it was designed to do when handled. The explosives were made up of chemicals placed inside plastic bottles and could have seriously injured someone, officials said. Numerous agencies were on the Georgia Tech campus to search for suspects.
Powerful stuff indeed. The custodian picks it up, it explodes, and he gets ringing in his ears? What were the 'terrorists' trying to do? Send a message by making everyone temporarily deaf? Could heavy metal bands being working in cohoots with the terrorists then?!?
I had a teacher in high school that taught us how to make explosives at home (I know fun for the whole family). We'd put it in Mason jars and explode it from a distance. Usually a long fuse or radio control (much the same way you'd fire off one of those model rockets). That's not a 'typical' college or high school prank. Am I now a terrorist?
I think you need to quit looking behind every corner for any little thing out of the ordinary. And I'd stop watching Fox. Talk about blowing something out of proportion. I can just imagine that idiot Hannity devoting 20 minutes to terrorists in GA tonight
Understandable - now that we're back in Texas there are several PCUSA churches nearby - but our old church is 7 hours away, kind of far to drive for services.
That is hilarious....... lol
Sorry! And damn it.
The buggy pic is posted
early in the thread,
but I didn't read
the whole first section before
re-posting! Sorry.
