An Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Stamford Hill in London has been attacked and vandalized - not by anti-Semitic thugs, but by fellow Jews who regard its leaders' outspoken condemnation of Israel as a betrayal.
Rising tensions over the forced evictions by Israeli troops last month of Jewish settlers from Gaza and parts of the West Bank as part of the Middle East peace process has sparked a backlash among Stamford Hill's Orthodox Jewish community.
Windows at the synagogue in Alkham Road were smashed after bottles were hurled at them last Thursday evening and the front of the building was covered with red spray paint.
The synagogue belongs to Neturei Karta, an ultra-Orthodox sect opposed to the Zionist political movement that established the state of Israel as a national homeland for Jews.
The sect claims that the concept of a sovereign Jewish state is contrary to the teachings of the Torah and has led to the bloodshed in the Middle East.
In recent years it has staged the public burning of the Israeli flag on street corners in Stamford Hill.

I can't believe there is such a group. The fact that they oppose Israel as a Jewish homeland, while being Jewish themselves, is one thing. Atually burning the Israeli flag, well that really tells you many things about this group
It tells you more than something just about this group but of all Leftist people of the Jewish faith whose motivation is more secular and political than religious.
It is much worse than that. These people appear publicly supporting pro-Palesitinian terrorist groups, being embraced on podiums by terror-supporting scum!
They're not only misguided, they're downright dense.
What backs this claim in the Torah? Anybody have a short summary of the argument?

IIRC, this group is ultra-orthodox, so whatever their motivation is or might be, it would be about as NON-SECULAR as possible [my memory might be wrong but somehow I associate them with Satmar tzadik followers]. And I would not write them up as leftists either.
From what I understand, they believe that the Messiah comes first, then Israel, and that the existence of Israel delays the Messiah.
