WASHINGTON - Harriet Miers' qualifications to be a Supreme Court justice and her views on privacy rights will be a focus of her confirmation hearings, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Arlen Specter says. ADVERTISEMENT

Miers must show she can handle complicated legal issues and has not cut deals with the White House to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion, Specter, R-Pa., said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

President Bush's nomination of Miers, a longtime confidante and White House counsel but never a judge, has caused division among conservatives. A leader of the right said he will not be satisfied until it is clear whether she would vote to overturn the abortion ruling.

Stuck On Stupid

There is something inherently wrong with the legalization of infanticide and naming it a constitutional right and cloaking the aberration as part of our privacy rights.  More than 40 million babies have been killed since the Roe vs. Wade ruling.

Roe vs. Wade needs to be overturned.

If Harriet Miers is confirmed I hope she will be instrumental in abolishing  this pox on our society known as Roe v. Wade.

Last year, I emailed you about my concerns with placing Specter as the chairman of the J committee. You ASSURED me and many others that Specter would behave as a conservative. From the way I see Specter acting now as a bulldog on Dobson regarding Meiers, he is NOT acting as a conservative but as a liberal partisan trying to protect Roe. Therefore, I suggest YOU reign him in because YOU are now tied to him by virtue of your assurances earlier. As Specter behaves, YOU will be judged accordingly.
