For GOP, Election Anxiety Mounts Candidates Need Convincing for '06
By Charles Babington and Chris Cillizza Washington Post Staff Writers Monday, October 10, 2005; A01
Republican politicians in multiple states have recently decided not to run for Senate next year, stirring anxiety among Washington operatives about the effectiveness of the party's recruiting efforts and whether this signals a broader decline in GOP congressional prospects.
Prominent Republicans have passed up races in North Dakota and West Virginia, both GOP-leaning states with potentially vulnerable Democratic incumbents. Earlier, Republican recruiters on Capitol Hill and at the White House failed to lure their first choices to run in Florida, Michigan and Vermont.
These setbacks have prompted grumbling. Some Republican operatives, including some who work closely with the White House, privately point to what they regard as a lackluster performance by Sen. Elizabeth Dole (N.C.) as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the group that heads fundraising and candidate recruitment for GOP senators.

Babbington and Cillizza and other WaPo operatives will have to be treated for P.E.S.T. in a little over a year.
It is Senator Dole's responsibility, elected by her Republican counterparts in the Senate, to recruit and win offices. If there is failure, it is on her part. I'm not one bit impressed by finger pointing to the W.H. because you can't do your job well ma'am. Nor, am I impressed by wimps and backstabbers that have not supported this President and have not helped in legislation that would fight MSM attacks and base unhappiness. Grow up and take responsibility for your part in this.
Gee, do you think the Washington Post and their DC demo allies will be surprised when the Republican ticket is elected in the Commonwealth of Virginia in November? That will occur with a currently popular (at least according to the press) demo governor. I trust that will be a preview to 2006.
Real story: The MSM gives up on the DNC and is now relying purely on FUD.
The anxiety is in knowing cemetrary populations favor Democrats by a margin of 100 to 1.
The real reason there are problems with 06:
Jeb Bush: Allowed one judge without an army to over-rule the Constitution of Florida (re Terri Schiavo). Refused to counter the orders of the Judge though he had legal recourse to do so (and whined that his hands were tied). Judges aren't the problem -- they only do what they are allowed to get away with.
Justice Roberts: Definetly not a promised Scalia or Thomas
Harriet Meirs: Definetly not even close to Scalia or Thomas.
Social conservatives are going to sit this out or form a third party. For all those who don't think you need us, get used to the idea of the dems retaking the Senate. After all, they can't do any worse than the people we hired to fix the problems and failed us (Pres. Bush)..
Such stupidity doesn't deserve and answer but I will give you one anyway in the form a of a question. You really think JF**king Kerry would be doing better now? He would have nominated real conservatives to the bench and would have pushed for legislation that would favor conservatives? If you actually believe that then you are pretty much brain dead and should maybe just get out of FR all together.
We DON'T need people like you with your negative thoughts and idiotic ideas. You have no idea what Roberts is like as a judge, you have no idea what Miers will be like, if she is confirmed, but you critisize and jump on the chance to belittle Bush, totally ignoring all the good things he has accomplished.
You are either a Dem or most of your brain doesn't function. Yes, I would love to see a third party that was REALLY conservative, but I would only vote for it if I knew they were going to beat the Dems.
The way things stand now I will not vote for any third party, I will not be responsible for putting Dems back into office. The trick is to find the conservative republicans and weed out the Rinos.
If we allow the Dems to get power one more time we have seen the last of america and should say hello to communism, they will never let go, by hook or by crook they will keep power once they get it again. I will be dying soon but idiots like you will have to live with the fools you let into office through inaction or voting for useless third parties, so take your votes and your negative thoughts, your defeatism and please go somewhere else. I am tired of hearing and reading comments from fools such as yourself.
>>Such stupidity doesn't deserve and answer but I will give you one anyway in the form a of a question. You really think JF**king Kerry would be doing better now?
He couldn't be doing worse. Robert's and Meirs are bound to hold up Roe.
>>He would have nominated real conservatives to the bench and would have pushed for legislation that would favor conservatives?
If Kerry's nominees uphold roe, and so do the President's, then no, Kerry couldn't have done worse.
>>If you actually believe that then you are pretty much brain dead and should maybe just get out of FR all together.
LOL.
>>You have no idea what Roberts is like as a judge,
Exactly my point. Most of the past Republican justices [on the Supreme Court] are horrible to bad, and we couldn't afford not to know this time around, but the President doesn't want to do the job we elected him to do -- to put Scalias and Thomases on the court.
>>you have no idea what Miers will be like,
Read above -- no more Souters..
>>Bush, totally ignoring all the good things he has accomplished.
If you are a little baby in the womb, or one halfway outside of the womb (and technically a citizen), do these other things matter? The fact that the President won't *enforce* the partial birth abortion ban nor the born alive act merely show's his submission to an out of control court. We didn't hire him to act this way or let the Democrats pick his nominees.
>>You are either a Dem or most of your brain doesn't function.
LOL. If it didn't ,I couldn't type ..

The problem is with the Party, not the RINOS. Go ahead and be used by the Republicans all you want. They don't want to overturn Roe, because then they can't string social conservatives along. Well, that's coming to an end. The party be dammed if they are more interested in votes than doing the job we sent them to Washington for.
>>If we allow the Dems to get power one more time we have seen the last of america and should say hello to
HELLO. We are already there and the Republicans are in almost total control on the Federal level and in Governorships. Unless things change, the American dream is over. Which party is in control doesn't matter -- they both sufficated the American dream.
>>I will be dying soon but idiots like you will have to live with the fools you let into office through inaction
Us "idiots" are living with the fools you guys put in to office decades ago. We inherited the abidcation of authority to the courts (which happend before my time). We already live with Justices ruling the land. We sent people to Washington to fix it and they don't have the balls to do the job. So you tell me what else is left but to fire them?
So what if the dems take over, who cares? The Republicans failed. The American dream could not be resuscitated under their watch.

If Kerry's nominees uphold roe, and so do the President's, then no, Kerry couldn't have done worse. - 1stFreedom
A lot of people exaggerate the extent of very narrow majorities in the Congress, and consequently they expect too much,
For GOP, Election Anxiety Mounts
AND
For rats wishful thinking and false hope mounts
