TIRANA, Albania - (AP) The Albanian army began its sixth troop rotation in Iraq Sunday with a 120-troop army contingent that is to replace soldiers who have served there since April, the Defense Ministry said.
The army unit is to serve a six-month mission in Iraq under U.S.-led command serve in a non-combat role, mainly patrolling the airport in the Iraqi city of Mosul.
Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu, army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Pellumb Qazimi and U.S. Ambassador Marcie Ries were present at the ceremony at an army base before the troops departed for Iraq. Albania, a predominantly Muslim country, strongly backed the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
Although it was unable to provide significant military support, it opened its airspace and offered U.S.-led forces the use of its bases.
According to MSNBC and CBS - there are no Albanians in Iraq, only Americans.
Kudos to our Albanian allies. First I heard that they were in Iraq.
Thank you, Albania!
(Now, why can't FRANCE or GERMANY send us 120 men?? Or maybe 1200 men? Or 12,000?
We saved them in WWII, so is 120 men too much?)
We need to see a total restructuring of how the news of the war in Iraq in written up in the American press. We need positive news, not an onslaught of negative news (deaths, bombings etc.)
As Little Green Footballs said, if the American press were openly allied with the jihadists, how would their reporting be different?
Reading the American press (even conservative papers) enwraps the reader in a pall of depression.
Albania is only 16% Muslim. The rest is RC or Orthodox with a few atheists in there. Thank you our Christian Albanian allies.

The internet and talk radio have now removed the chains and we can see how much 'news' is manufactured left-wing sensationalism, and the MSM is not happy about it at all.
You know it's sort of funny, all or almost all of the former Soviet satellite countries that had the heel of the Soviet totalitarian boot on their necks for so long are stepping up freely to give freedom to the Iraqi's.
France, Germany, what's your frigging problem????
Maybe I'll have to visit Albania someday.
I agree, Albania would be a lovely country in which to vacation.
