Owens asked that her name be withdrawn. She would have been the nominee otherwise IMO. Let's hope Miers is the same.

So what you're saying is that each of these nominees have skeletons in their closets so bad that it would destroy them and likely the President and the opposition research found it?

Bush is too much of a gentleman to do that. I'm not. (clearly). If Bush were do do as you suggest, the MSM would literally bribe whoever they had to, in order to get the information. No candidate would ever trust Bush again, as their lives would be turned upside down.

That's becuase you've been on the cheerleader side trying to defend their 'honor' as they slung mud and insults and then played the victim.
I have no vested interest in defending Pukin Dog. In fact, I vehemently disagree that we should now support Miers. She is a horrible choice and Bush should be ashamed of himselft.
My previous comment is aimed directly at you. You seem to have a "self importance" that does not belong to you and you do an awful job exhibiting it. Get over it...

>Yes, like Rush Limbaugh said, it was a choice made from weakness.
>But the thing to remember, is that it was not Bushs weakness, but our own, and that of the people we have elected to Congress that made this happen. Had they been strong, Bush could have selected anyone we wanted.
There, PD, you have said it all.

Number 2 is a plus. Anyone who didn't smoke dope in my generation when young was well, unusual. Judges and lawyers don't do illegal nannies unless they are terminally stupid, and having felons in the family tree, is just so medieval as a disqualifier, as a consanquinuity stain, unless one was a co conspirator.
The "leak" with nothing more, that all the other candidates would have been destroyed when all was revealed, is well, simply reckless, and has that defamatory odor to it.

Dog, I'm sure this is all (mostly) true.
My POV is that the President's job under the circumstances is to get us a better Senate.
My opinion about the best way to do that is to send nominee after excellent nominee to be rejected by these out of touch, far left of the mainstream Senators, and run like hell on it in 2006.
I think the Supreme Court is our best and strongest, not only our most important, issue.
Rejection of Brown, Luttig, McConnell, etc would cost the opposition big time, IMO.

"Move on."
That's what I've been trying to say.
Just move on. Don't say "look at me" and then "why is this all about me?"
But whatever. People will believe what they choose to believe.

Come on flashbunny.
Some of us appreciate Pukin Dog's writing style and find it very entertaining. He is also very fair about putting it in the title so you don't have to read iteven by accident.
You don't. It's one of those agree to disagree things. Why not leave it alone?
To: GopherIt
no mention about bush supporting specter over toomey.
Or how bush is now supporting chaffee over laffey for the next GOP primary.

Frankly, I was looking forward to the "nuclear option" to confirm a conservative judge to the Supreme Court such as Owens or Brown. We've got to stand up to the Demon-crats! We are in a civil war right now, and have got to have the gonads to take on the communists! ...democrats.. many do not know it yet but many democrats are useful idiots. I agree. I think the story given to Pukin Dog is just a big pitcher of Kool-Aid.

It would have been a whole bunch of fun to see some liberal guts sliding through the scuppers, but for now, we just need to hang tight, together, or get ready to hang, seperately and all alone!
