Did 9/11 Panel Squelch Freeh Bombshell?

Did former FBI director Louis Freeh tell the 9/11 Commission that he knew for a "fact" that ex-president Clinton solicited Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah for a big bucks donation to his presidential library after signaling he'd go easy on the Khobar Towers bombing probe?

And if that information was shared with the Commission, why didn't they include that bombshell in their report?

In his new book, "My FBI," Freeh says Clinton met with Abdullah to gain help with the Khobar probe, but "raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudis' reluctance to cooperate and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library. That's a fact that I am reporting."

However a review of the 9/11 Commission report yields no mention of any such revelation from Freeh - and only scant references to the June 1996 Khobar bombing that took the lives of 19 U.S. airmen.

In public testimony before the Commission on April 13, 2004, Freeh didn't talk about Clinton hitting-up Abdullah for cash. If he had, it would have been front page news at the time.

Then again, a transcript of Freeh's public testimony shows scant interest among the Commissioners in grilling Freeh about the Khobar episode - including the lack of Saudi cooperation.

That's odd, since the former FBI Director has long been on record complaining that President Clinton did so little to press the Saudis on Khobar that he had to turn to former President George H.W. Bush for help.

Writing in the Wall Street Journal in May 2003, Freeh charged that the Clinton White House was either "unable or unwilling to help the FBI" gain access to key witnesses in the Khobar case.

"After months of inaction, I finally turned to the former President Bush, who immediately interceded with Crown Prince Abdullah on the FBI's behalf," Freeh revealed.

"Mr. Bush personally asked the Saudis to let the FBI do one-on-one interviews of the detained Khobar bombers. The Saudis immediately acceded."

Thanks to Bush's intercession, Freeh said, his agents were given "direct access to the Saudi detainees."

"This was the investigative breakthrough for which we had been waiting for several years," the former FBI director proclaimed.

If the 9/11 Commissioners were curious about Freeh's account of Clinton recalcitrance on Khobar, there's no indication of it in their investigation.

Which begs the question: Did Freeh offer his Clinton-Khobar-Abdullah revelation during a closed door grilling by the 9/11 panel - whereupon the Commission decided to sweep the charge under the rug?

If so, the 9/11 Commssion will have completely and thoroughly discredited its own investigation into America's worst disaster. And Congress needs to launch a full blown probe into both the cover-up and the explosive new charges by Mr. Freeh.

The 9/11 Commission covered-up every other blunder/crime of the Clintonistas, so it makes perfect sense that they did the same thing here.

So I guess the question is: Why did he do it now instead of then? Could it be that then he didn't have a book to promote? Oh, I'm sorry that was soooo cynical on my part :)

I wonder if you could tie that into Able Danger and the China Connection which its looking like its going deeper than naming a few 9/11 hijackers.

Clinton would never offer this version of events. He has the unique ability to invent a reality that makes him look good and to really believe it. He's denying Freeh's version on TV tonight. Apparently (c)BS 60 Minutes will let Clinton have a rebuttal, something a Republican President would never get.

There's one question that tells us whose version is true: Did former President Bush get involved? I would love to see GHWB bury the Sink Meister on this simply by confirming Freeh contacted him and he interceded.

What's ol' Kean up to these days? He should'a been tarred and feathered a long time ago.

GWB will continue to protect Clinton. He must do that. YOU CAN NOT know what really happened because it will allow the sheeple, the Freepers, DU, everybody to see inside the real power. And the real power will say anything to continue the games.

Oh this is soooo good. Trouble is the media won't go after this one, so the people won't even know!

I am really beginning to wonder just how many documents Sandy Burglar took from the National Archives. I'm almost positive he took some related to Able Danger, but this is even more damning to Klintoon. There were certainly notes from the meeting with Abdullah, and now it is really important to know where they are. Freeh is not a stupid man and he knew that the Clintonistas would be all over him about this, so it would seem that he has some proof of this.

Berger, Clinton should be charged with obstruction and then treason. Who the hell knows what Clinton sent him to the archives for.
