Women's hall of fame honors Hillary Clinton, Maya Lin Saturday October 08, 2005 By BEN DOBBIN Associated Press Writer
SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) Inspired by Alan Shepard, the first American to journey into space, a 14-year-old from suburban Chicago wrote a letter to NASA in 1961 asking what she needed to do to become an astronaut.
Back came a curt reply: Girls are not being recruited by the nation's space program.
``It had never crossed my mind up until that point that there might be doors closed to me simply because I was a girl,'' recalled the letter writer, better known today as former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The rejection stung her to the core, opening up the teenager's eyes to sexual stereotypes, career barriers and discriminatory practices that soon came under assault from landmark laws beginning with the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
``We have made so many advances in the last 40 years that are really unprecedented in the history of the world,'' said Clinton, one of 10 women inducted Saturday in the National Women's Hall of Fame.
``I don't think there has ever been a better time to be a woman than in the United States of America in the 21st century,'' she said in an interview. ``We have a broad scope of choices ... that really are defined by who we are and what we want as individuals and not constricted by the gender we were born into.''
Clinton, 57, the only first lady elected to the Senate, was enshrined along with Maya Lin, who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.; Dr. Rita Rossi Colwell, who became the first female director of the National Science Foundation in 1998,

"I think she originated in space"
Perhaps, but it's all the other women Hillary enabled Bill with that were the PAWED persons....
She is a damn liar!
She has always wanted to be president. She started her "career" helping to impeach Richard Nixon. NEVER has she ever wanted to do anything else.
Just when did she decide this?! Remember she was in LAW SCHOOL, not FLIGHT SCHOOL!

NOTE: the survival of our Republic is threatened by two things -- fundamentalist Islamic terrorists and Hillary Rodham Clinton. President Bush is leading the fight against the terrorists. It is up to those of us who know the real Hillary Clinton to lead the fight against her. We must shine the light of truth on this dangerous woman so that all Americans may know the real Hillary.

(Info for this story comes from Carl Limbacher and the NewsMax staff.)
Bill Clinton commented in about August of 2002 that he was ready to grab a rifle, get in a ditch and fight and die for Israel. Be still my heart.
But Bill isn't the only wannabe warrior in the family. No, he isn't. His lovely wife claims to have shown a streak of patriotism. In 1994 Hillary actually said that she tried to join the Marines 19 years earlier. The claim had gone largely unchallenged.
A female U.S. Air Force vet contacted NewsMax to give her reasons why she believes Hillary invented the whole story. Say it ain't so.
One of the claims from Hillary as to why she was turned down was because of her poor eyesight. The problem according to the vet was that perfect or near-perfect eyesight was only required for flying jobs or those dealing with intricate electronic maintenance or radar. Most other jobs simply required vision to be corrected to 20/20 with glasses or contact lenses.
How about Hillary's claim that they told her she was too old at 27? Probably bogus. In 1975, the age limit for officers was 35. Now it's age 49 maximum. Hillary's age of 27 would not have been a problem. She was then a lawyer and would have been greeted with open arms and commissioned as an officer.
What about Hillary's sex? No, not whether she preferred girls. Stop that, Doug. No, it's about being a woman. It was no barrier. The NewsMax source joined in 1975 as an aircraft mechanic. The military was working hard to recruit women into what had been traditionally viewed as male jobs. The Marines would have jumped at the chance to recruit a female lawyer.
Hillary, Hillary, Hillary. Is there anything about you that is genuine?
a feeble attempt to...what? grab the spotlight from Harriet Meirs?
