There are some on the left who still deny any larger group planning behind the 9-11 attacks and wanted to absolve OBL of any involvement even after he claimed responsibility.

Well it is in our interest possibly to handle it this way. Propoganda and disinformation is important in war.
So I don't even care if the 9-11 attacks were in fact a band of renegade Islamists not connected to al Qaeda and the four failed attacks were personally authorized by Osama himself. I can see why it is in our best interest to play them they way we have.
You don't do your enemies bidding for them in a war. You play things the way you think will benefit you.
Now I would accept the argument that pubic safety is more important than not letting the Islamists gain a propoganda advantage. I don't know a metric to decide. I just know the guys we have voted for have decided to play these smaller incidents one way and I don't know enough to say they are wrong.
BECAUSE the MSM are ALL liberal Democrats. I mean almost all of them. They stay up nights trying to figue out how to get Bush and how to put Hillary in the WH.
I don't understand the Anthrax issue at all .. but it could be the old issue that plagues a lot of police agencies.
They get their pointer stuck in a certain direction or suspect, and they are reluctant to admit they were wrong when it points in another direction - a direction they don't want to go.
I keep thinking that I remember a video a couple of years ago with a terrorist ranting and raving about hitting us in the heartland and also mentioning our children. Does anyone remember this? It really spooked me and I've been thinking about it a lot this week, but can't remember what year it was. Does anyone else remember this and have a link of that video?
Channel 4 reported on 10/02 emphatically that it was not a pipe bomb. A day or so later it was revealed that at least one part of Hinrichs bomb was TATP -

This brings to mind the classic 1940's movie "Double Indemnity."
An insurance agent (Fred MacMurray) plots with a policy-holder's wife (Barbara Stanwyck) to kill her husband and collect the life insurance. They kill the man and place his body near railroad tracks to make it look like he fell of a train the was supposed to be on.
The plot falls apart when they file an insurance claim and the insurance investigator (Edward G Robinson) checks the actuarial tables and finds that cases where passengers have died by falling off the back of a moving train are so rare as to be non-existent. Robinson becomes suspicious as a result of this and he doggedly investigates until he eventually cracks the case.
I wonder what the actuarial tables would say about a depressed person committing suicide by blowing himself up with explosives outside a crowded sports stadium? How many times has that ever happened?
