Qatar-based Aljazeera, launched in 1996, is currently expanding

Veteran UK broadcaster David Frost is to join Aljazeera International, the Qatar-based broadcaster's new English-language channel due to be launched next spring.

Aljazeera said on Friday Sir David, who broadcast his final Breakfast with Frost programme for the BBC in May, would be among the "key on-air talent".

Frost was quoted as saying he felt "excitement" about his new role.

"Most of the television I have done over the years has been aimed at British and American audiences," he said.

"This time, while our target is still Britain and America, the excitement is that it is also the six billion other inhabitants of the globe."

Frost's interview shows have attracted world leaders. He notched up 500 editions of Breakfast with Frost before bowing out.

Key talent

An Aljazeera statement called Frost "the only person to have interviewed the last seven presidents of the United States and the last six prime ministers of the United Kingdom".

It said: "(He) has joined the line-up of key on-air talent at the new 24-hour English language news and current affairs channel."

Aljazeera's English news online will be distributed in Japan soon

Frost first came to prominence on television in the early 1960s, when he presented the satirical BBC show That Was the Week that Was.

He presented a series of news and current affairs programmes in the UK and America.

Frost's interviews with Richard Nixon after Watergate were revealing, much acclaimed and achieved the largest audience for a news interview in history.

He worked for ITV breakfast station TV-am in the 1980s before rejoining the BBC in 1992.

It's impossible to believe that Frost is ignorant of the fact that his joining this organization puts him in the same class as Scott Ritter. Especially since it was only last August 9th Ritter stated BLAIR and BUSH should be compared to Nazis: "Both these men could be pulled up as war criminals for engaging in actions that we condemned Germany in 1946 for doing...the Prime Minister and the US President [are] "guilty of the crime of planning and committing aggressive warfare".

BTW, Al Jazeera is expanding and intends to broadcast their NEWS in Japan; they're also developing a sizeable "Children's Program" in order to cultivate "better citizens"!

Leftest Media in Wushful Thinking Mode:

Long an outlet for the GOP message, talk radio undergoes a shift

By Steven Thomma, Knight Ridder Newspapers
Thu Oct 6, 6:08 PM ET

WASHINGTON - When the White House wanted to talk to its political base about a Supreme Court nominee this week, there was no doubt where to go: talk radio.

Vice President Dick Cheney took the administration's case to the Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity programs, speaking simultaneously to the normally sympathetic hosts and their audiences of like-minded Republicans.

A decade after Republicans credited Limbaugh with helping them win control of Congress - they called him the Majority Maker - they still look to his conservative-dominated medium for a lopsided communications edge over Democrats. Today, they count on talk radio to rally support for President Bush, attack those who criticize or question him, and stir passions leading into the 2006 midterm congressional elections.

There are signs that the Republicans could be losing some of their overwhelming edge, however. Ratings for Limbaugh and Hannity slipped this spring in some markets. Liberals such as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Al Franken are carving out their own radio niche. And Democrats argue that they have an edge on the Internet, where explosive growth could dwarf the political impact of radio.

Some of that could be just wishful thinking by Democrats. The slip in ratings, for example, could be a normal drop in political interest after an election year. They also could be untrue - radio ratings are difficult to measure. And even if Limbaugh and Hannity have fewer listeners than they did in the past, they still have millions more than liberal talk show hosts.

David Frost is not an idiot, He may be a tool, but I think I will wait to see what happens before I assume what he will say.

Having a WASP in front of billions of Muslims should be interesting

There aren't "billions" of muslims and Sir Frost wouldn't be in front of them anyway. This article claims he will be on the English language channel, acting as the voice muhamedism to the western world.

Frost makes a deal with the devil. Probably misses the big time and bright lights from the golden days.
