Besides, some things are still worth fighting for and even losing.

Hey, keep on railing away. It makes a great smoke screen.

The more conservatives yell, the more the general public believes that Miers is a reasonable choice, and the more there is pressure on the Democrats not to filibuster her.

If I didn't know better, I'd believe you're all secret agents of Karl Rove.

One of my favorite ping lists. You won't regret getting front row seating for reading JohnHuang2's columns.

Of all of the wonderful essays you have written, John, this one, I know, is going to be a personal favorite.

May I print this out to sent to family members and friends?

I gotta tell ya, I really love it!

This is the most outstanding essay I've seen.

Her detractors are making fools of themselves.

What is a Constitutional Expert? And how in the hell do I trust a person who have spent their entire lives trying to read what isn't there in a document written to be black and white?

An incredible post that needs to be read by all conservatives.

I hope the sniping at each other over Miss Miers will sharpen our knives when the socialist commies mount their attack.

Those who know Miss Miers, love her. Her nomination holds the promise of striking a common chord with the entire country; on a level that will place her as the people's justice in the hearts of America. She will be good for our cause.

It is now time to begin pulling together. We must stay disciplined and work as a team now. The ball has been hiked and the play is on. Love it, live it, do or die. Let's get that ball in the end zone!

Man, that is the most brilliant piece I've seen on this issue yet. Absolutely outstanding. Unique it that it actually relies on facts, precedent and the truth.

"She'll be confirmed . . ."

Of course she'll be confirmed. She's Harry Reid's personal pick.

Great writing, John. Have a nice weekend!

I think a lot of people, from Mark Levin to Thomas Sowell, are "revising" their opposition to Miers. As it dawns on people that it is HER or NO ONE, they will come around---all except the ultras.

If the Left can defeat her by "splitting" conservatives, then there will never, ever be a Janice Rogers Brown on the Supreme Court. The message will be that enough opposition can be generated on any candidate, positions or not, intellectual firepower or not, track record or not.

Thanks for the ping. Even though this is a magnificent essay, it went downhill after the first paragraph:

"I'm disappointed . . . I'm depressed . . . I'm demoralized," the Weekly Standard's William Kristol wrote. My goodness. Get back on your meds, bud. Kristol says he's depressed because he "expected President Bush to nominate someone with a visible and distinguished constitutionalist track record . . . " Someone President John McCain would pick. Or President Colin Powell.

You can't top that!

EXCELLENT LETTER! Right on the mark. It's not real conservatives upset about Miers. It's elitists, and I'm coming to find that it's secular Republican "so called conservatives, who are in such a twit. As the days go on in this and more and more people and organizations, like Reverand Falwell, National Right to Life, the Christian Coalition, etc so on, endorse her so strongly, it really looks foolish for any real conservative to oppose her nomination. Makes it look like it's nothing more than a hissie fit because "Bush didn't pick who THEY wanted". Wah wah wah. Boo hoo. And how much complaining will there be in a few months if she proves, as it appears she will, that she's a strong conservatives, and when the high court hands down rulings, her name is right there with Thomas and Scalia and Roberts ALWAYS? Will there be as much apoligizing as there has been griping and whining? I doubt it. People always gripe more readily than they apoligize.
