This video news report is mostly what's been aired on past news reports: that Joel Hinrichs was turned away from the stadium, etc., but the the KEY quote from this story occurs about :30 seconds into the story, and that is when the reporter says "...a homemade REMOTE CONTROLLED bomb was strapped to his back
The story goes on to detail his attempted purchase of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, etc.
My abnormal psych prof said women do it in a less messy way (usually) because they know someone will have to clean it up. As a female that makes perfect sense to me.

The best part is sitting back and reading the debate points, and using them to help you form your own opinion.
All with people who have, for the most part, similar values and morals.
Aftermath affects Muslim community
An OU instructor was questioned by law enforcement agencies. by Sara Ganus October 05, 2005 As the first night of Ramadan wound down Wednesday, two children tossed a football through the rain in the parking lot of the Masjid Al-Nur Islamic mosque, 1304 George Ave.
I think he was considering detonating it remotely and then chickened out and killed himself.
That, or he was a willing dupe. Another observation regarding suicides in the US: they most often do not leave a dangerous environment. Extremely rare (though not unheard of) to leave a set-gun, booby trap, or similar destructive device. Self asphyxiators that go the natural gas route being the exception. Incredibly, even these nutcases often extinguish pilot lights. They sometimes do not remember all of the pilot lights, and often forget about thermostatically controlled devices. That said, and this case involving Engineering students, this indicates work accident or homicide.
"Hmm. Anyone remember the story about the pizza guy in upstate New York (was it?) who claimed he was kidnapped and booby trapped with a bomb? And then it went off?"
It was all on tape too. I do not remember what the final outcome was though. I saw the tape on tv just a week or so ago.
The possibility of many being hurt is frightening.
That was in Erie, PA. The FBI is still investigating it.

Ping....the bomb was remote controlled (as discussed on earlier threads).
Thanks to hispanarepublicana for the ping.
There weren't any nails there. That was just used as a comparison to the size of the holes in the tree next to the bench--the size of the heads on 16-penny nails.
There was some metallic substance in the holes, but I don't think all those nails would've magically driven themselves, hammered-like, into the tree bark. The bus would've had nail damage, not just flesh splatter, if there were nails, IMO.
Sure sounds to me like this dude's muslim roomate, or his friends at the local islamic center, might have filled his head with tales of martyrdom. Our boy then gets strapped into an explosive vest/backpack and sent off to the game. Once there, he is supposed to go into the stadium and self-detonate.
As a back up, the jihadi buddies have rigged his device up with a remote detonation in case he loses his nerve (as is frequently done in the Middle East these days).
Our boy gets to the stadium and has second thoughts, and takes a seat on a park bench to pause and think about what he's about to do and screw up the courage to do it.
Meanwhile the jihadi buddies, not hearing anything past the appointed time, decide our boy has lost his nerve and they go ahead and remote-detonate the device. Unfortunately our boy is still sitting outside the stadium...
Just a theory.

My hunch was that since he'd tried to enter the stadium three times, and had failed, that he was supposed to be in there by the time they activated his bomb. He wasn't, so he was the only one killed.
Somehow, it seems perfectly fitting that the one who planned to kill people was, himself, killed. His karma got bitten by his dogma.
Guess I should have back-read up the thread before I posted this same thing! Just came in on the ping.
Or far from home.
Just another example of great minds thinking alike.
Not really....This MUSLIM College dude had bomb making supplies all over his apartment. Big difference!!
Also...I wonder if they tested for Cyanide and Strycchnine...also a fav of terrorists from the Islamazi persuasion.
Except this MUSLIM college dude had bomb making supplies all over his apartment. Big difference!!
