Its par for the course for the Experts who know more about this process than the President. The FACT Harriet led Bush's effort to put the very judges the Experts would have rather seen nominated means nothing to the Experts. Odd.

They just want Fireworks with the RATS in the Senate and don't really care about the result. If the life of this women isn't the picture of a very conservative person I have never seen one.

Well, perhaps it means more than just a little. When a liberal public figure is outed as a gun owner, the leftist will either deny it or will justify it by stating that he or she is vastly more important than the little serfs out there who do not need to be armed. If Miers really made a strong RKBA statement, then that may be significant. Why would Miers do that rather than make a usual RINO comment like, "I respect hunters and sportsmen"? I keep fearing the worst and hoping for the best -- I don't know...

Can't wait for the hearings.

Miers to Schumer: Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do ya?

Ah, I goofed.

In Texas if the perp is in your house, he's fair game.

After dark, if he's on your property and up to no good(stealing, vandalizing, etc.) much the same applies.

Better?

We had an old black lady who used to come to the Firehouse every once in a while , she liked to talk. She stated she kept a baseball bat with a nail in it under her bed and a bucket of lye on the stove. Nobody messed with her.

I'm not comfortable with MOST women regarding our 2nd Amendment rights (the EMOTION of the "mothering" instinct clouds their judgement),

Excuse me? You may have made a typo in your post. Both of my children, now in their 20's, are good shots. That was part of my "mothering instinct". In fact I can't name one anti-2A woman in my own circle of friends. All their children shoot too.

Little girls are typically raised to cook on their Easy Bake Oven, wash their baby dolls and feed the kittens, while their brother is out learning to shoot. However the tides are turning as more women live alone (as does Miers) or discover that shooting is fun and exciting through, oh let's say a brother or somebody.

How do you know if she got rid of the handgun that she didn't replace it with a newer model? You don't. Maybe you'd rather have Bill Clinton on the SC since he's a man? Miers statements are pretty to the point if you ask me. But then you didn't ask me. :-))

[Thanks for your insightful comment. I really appreciate the "dense" label.]

A lot of dense people like to be called dense, it makes them feel like they are part of the crowd.

[Maybe you should read your response to me and look in the mirror.]

Can I just skip reading your response, looking at my bald head is a lot more interesting.

[I wish I was a mind reader and could read the tea leaves but I can't so I just have to form my own opinions with my small little mind. Excuse me while I go back to my trailer."]

I can appreciate how difficult it was for you to share your important thoughts with me. Meirs still stinks as a candidate and hundreds of thousands of core conservatives know it, so go convince them.

"Miers once owned a .45-caliber revolver,

Possible, but I doubt it.

The doubters I seem to run into (always the same usual suspects) use their disdain of the Miers pick to snipe at Bush on other matters.

[BTW can someone explain what a "strict constructionist" is? In real world terms, not legalese. My college degree came from a small local college and I might not be able to understand the big words.]

You are probably confused with difference between "strict constrictionist" and "strict constructionist". The first is a tightening of a sphincter, the second is someone who takes the constitution as a contract with meaning only to be modified by amendment, not judicial fiat.

Meirs could well be pro 2nd amendment, pro God, and pro apple pie, but if she isn't a strict constructionist kiss the country goodbye.

I also send doubters to the C-Span replay of her address last spring to the National Republican Lawyers Association. Not that they'd care to check that out before ripping into her or taking cheap shots at the President.

Thank you so much for your answer, esp the sphincter part. You are right - I think that Harriet Miers is a sign that the end is near. I guess tomorrow dogs and cats will be living together. God save us all.

Sounds like a great lady with common sense values.

Pro-life. Pro-gun. Pro-10 Commandments.

Where in the Constitution does it say a SC judge must be a lawyer? Much less from an ivy-league school?

"Meirs could well be pro 2nd amendment, pro God, and pro apple pie, but if she isn't a strict constructionist kiss the country goodbye."

What will you 'know' about another nominee over and above what you 'know' about Meirs? Nothin's guaranteed about anything. You can gather she's a conservative from the ample stories coming out, is pro-gun, pro-life, pro-christian....HELL! She IS a Christian...for 26 years! She's produced fruit....action speak louder than words. W has stuck by his nominees as Constitutionalists....he hasn't faltered. Roberts came out swingin' in his first ussc case regarding the so-called 'right-to-die' case. Meirs won't be any less motivated. Her heart is in the fight. A SC judge closer to ordinary people, of the people, is EXACTLY what this nation needs to be a voice for presenting how what these ivy-league SC justices lay down effect us in day-to-day society.

"kiss the country goodbye" cuz a conservative Christian is appointed!? How asinine. Not one for exaggeration, are you. After this many years of the ginsbergs, souters and 9th circuit, i thought you'd be a little tougher. Sheesh.
