After a few days of arguing over the Miers nomination for the Supreme Court I am rather sick of it. I have been arguing for her even though I know little about her. I think she is a fine individual and probably a good Christian , and I think her qualifications are just fine. After all 35 of 55 Founding Fathers were lawyers, does that mean the other 20 werent qualified? But I digress to write this because I am moving into the No category.

I decided this not because I dont like her, I personally feel that she would make a fine Justice, but her simple nomination has torn the base apart. I think it would do us and the RNC good if we all united against her, because as it stands right now we are becoming laughing stocks to the otherside, and if there is one thing I hate ,and thats to be laughed at by commies. We all need to stop the name calling, the troll insults and the Bush-bot insults and well all of them, and yes I am guilty of it too. I wont be a vociferous voice against her, you will probably still hear me defend her and the President, like I have been doing.

I urge a consensus from the base to emerge over this. The poll on FR is showing the Yes crowd with 30.3% the nos with 24.4% and the need more info at 41.8%(the hillarys dont count), and this is the member poll results.I dont think it would be to unfair to reason that if you were to poll the base outside of FR the results would be the same, and that is dangerous for any party. Sure it shows that we arent a lockstep party, or a lockstep ideology, with the powers that be. But if a movement is to survive it has to have a secure foundation, and right now I see the foundation rumbling as if to fracture.

Typical, when you can't get your message across, you hurl insults and all caps.

Anybody looking to your postings for enlightenment would be better off reading the Weekly Standard.

howlin

hurling insults and way too much verbage since
Since Jul 1, 1999

in case you need a definiton,

verbage: /ver´b@j/, n.

A deliberate misspelling and mispronunciation of verbiage that assimilates it to the word ‘garbage’.

I'm a bit surprised at your post, aft_lizard. You said, "... I know little about her. I think she is a fine individual, and probably a good Christian, and I think her qualifications are just fine." Yet now you say you are moving into the "NO category". Sounds like a case of "peer pressure" to me. I, for one, am not going to give up on a nominee because some folks just have a personal agenda that was all written up in their minds, stamped and dated, and just waiting for approval. They didn't get their way, so now they will attack a possibly decent person who just may be the best thing the court has seen in years. I use the words, "possibly" and "may" for a reason. For anyone to believe that this woman has to be the WORST thing that could happen, they would have to believe that President Bush has been bought out by the Devil.

We are largely objecting to the passing over of many others for a crony, a friend, a person who's biggest achievement is her relationship to GWB and the positions he has given her.

The argument doesn't wash.

I have never seen a president have on his plate what this president has on his. Maybe Roosevelt did, but I do not recall the fierce adversity in this nation against a president from the opposite side, much less his own side like I have recently...The president has been stellar in his actions imo these past few years. He has made a nomination of what he believes is the right choice. I trust that he is more than capable to make the right choice. To those who think they've been betrayed...it's time to get over it and support your president.

What a zinger! Anybody who researches your posts knows that you love to try and tear down other freepers, and that you are a mean old lady (unless you're really an old man) who has way too much time on their hands. Even with all those grandkids, must not do much baking I guess.

Here's a fine example of something you said to another freeper just today:

In fact, you're bordering very close to be an out and out liar.

Lovely! Buenas Noches from AK, where it's not 2 am (i.e. get a life).

And a majority in the Senate does not equate to a majority of conservatives.

Unfortunately, you're correct.

My, my, you have taken quite an interest in me, haven't you? Are you stalking me?

Like I said, you're babbling; and when people lie about things I have said, I sure as hell am going to call them on it.

Lovely! Buenas Noches from AK, where it's not 2 am (i.e. get a life).

Get a life? It sounds like YOU are pretty interested and well informed about MY life; perhaps you're jealous? I mean, it IS 1:30 a.m. in Arkansas, isn't it? Lonely?

I'm in Alaska too where it is now 10:31 p.m. LOL I can't speak for every Alaskan but hopefully you'll trust me on this. The last way I would describe the life of a typical Alaskan would be a "miserable life". The view is breathtaking, the handywork of God is everywhere, the northern lights are beyond description, the wilderness is peaceful and yet, wild beyond most people's imagination. Ah, but I brag....can you tell? I love Alaska. And just because we are chatting on the internet doesn't mean our lives are miserable. Gosh, people Outside who are still posting are anywhere from 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours ahead of us! LOL :)

I'm a Republican, and have been since I first registered to vote in 1999.

In fact, I voted for George W. Bush in three separate elections.

Two general elections and one primary.

And you know what?

I'm not satisfied.

I've tried to conduct myself in as civil a manner as humanly possible, but I don't think that means I should restrain my criticism of what I consider to be a phenomenally bad decision-and extraordinary missed opportunity-on the part of President Bush.

I wasn't referring to the geography, friend.

I was just wondering why somebody would be sitting up during the prime of night, stalking me around.

It's kind of freaky.

Oooops, I'm sorry, Howlin. I thought it was about geography. That's what I get for "thinking" this late at night. LOL Yes, stalking is freaky, and not a proper thing to do. I've had a few in the past myself and find it rather unnerving.

I'm going to toddle off to bed now before I wake my husband up with all this clattering at the keyboard. Rest well! chena

Yes, stalking is freaky

Well, some people do it full time, you know?

Some people spend their whole lives doing it.

Be not freaked out.

Turn off Fox for a couple days and cruise clear of FR until everyone has vented their spleen. At this stage, there isn't really a whole heck of a lot that we, the little cogs, can do.

If Miers clears the process I'm betting she'll be a fine judge. If she don't the President will pick someone else who won't need to refer to "world court" rulings before they write their opinions.

I've not always been happy about some of GWs moves, but I'm willing to give him a bit of slack to run with. As his counsel, I gotta think the President knows something about this woman that you and I and Harry Reid do not. This will not be "Souter ll".

As for Democrats "laughing at conservatives" I wouldn't lose any sleep over what that pack of howlin' jackasses thinks. In fact, let 'em smirk and sneer all they want. We're conservatives- unlike the Cool-Aid Brigade -we're allowed to disagree with each other.
