After a few days of arguing over the Miers nomination for the Supreme Court I am rather sick of it. I have been arguing for her even though I know little about her. I think she is a fine individual and probably a good Christian , and I think her qualifications are just fine. After all 35 of 55 Founding Fathers were lawyers, does that mean the other 20 werent qualified? But I digress to write this because I am moving into the No category.
I decided this not because I dont like her, I personally feel that she would make a fine Justice, but her simple nomination has torn the base apart. I think it would do us and the RNC good if we all united against her, because as it stands right now we are becoming laughing stocks to the otherside, and if there is one thing I hate ,and thats to be laughed at by commies. We all need to stop the name calling, the troll insults and the Bush-bot insults and well all of them, and yes I am guilty of it too. I wont be a vociferous voice against her, you will probably still hear me defend her and the President, like I have been doing.
I urge a consensus from the base to emerge over this. The poll on FR is showing the Yes crowd with 30.3% the nos with 24.4% and the need more info at 41.8%(the hillarys dont count), and this is the member poll results.I dont think it would be to unfair to reason that if you were to poll the base outside of FR the results would be the same, and that is dangerous for any party. Sure it shows that we arent a lockstep party, or a lockstep ideology, with the powers that be. But if a movement is to survive it has to have a secure foundation, and right now I see the foundation rumbling as if to fracture.
I liked how Tony Snow referred to the malcontents....the "bed wetters". ROFL!
The nomination of Miers has most definitely disgusted and dismayed a huge part of the conservative base. It may not have "torn apart" the base, but there will very likely be a residual effect come the 2006 elections when some conservatives may not make it to the polls if it's a lousy day. I mean, why bother?, they may ask themselves. For what?
I understand that Rove was involved in the selection process for this nomination. It seems inconceivable to me that somebody like Rove could have miscalculated this horribly.
Howlin, if you get a piece of Scarborogh, I'm good for the bail.
Sorry Patriot but I don't need to "snap out" of anything. This is how I think, and Free Republic is a forum to post your views, rather than a Stepford forum for conservatives. I'm sure Ed Gillespie appreciates your work though.
Sorry, I did not understand your question to me. Not enough sleep. I too think that for the good of the party we must urge the withdrawal of Harriet. I love SMU, used to live down the road from the campus. I'm love Texas and think that it produces great attorneys. But, Bush blew it in the way he snubbed us and had the nerve to say she was the most qualified person there was. After so many of us spilled lots of cash and energy to get good appellate judges confirmed for him? Hello?! I hate to say it but that kind of treatment by the POTUS is just plain AR-RO-GANT.
That's because you're not reading your own posts like we have to.
(now what was it that the catholics and holly rollers do to get their way... Oh I remember, they pray. Now that's scary!)
What the He!! is wrong with supporting the President? "Bush-Bot" here and damn proud of it! I'll carry the man's water any day.
I have single-handedly tried to hold together the Conservative movement in the United States these past few days. I have a rash and I have gotten the piles to boot. I have prayed and written songs and applied hot sitz baths hourly. I need some g*****mn relief and I would appreciate if my freeper frieds would shake hands with President Bush and make up. We are all wanting a conservative. The democrats want us to keep it up. That, in itself, should unite us. The low-down yellow bellied liberals have been exulting in this for damn near a week, and its got to stop. This is as bad and shiites and sunis. I have a 10,000 dollar decuctible and do not need a hemorrhoid operation as it will prove to costly. So, if you won't do it for the sake of Conservatives, do it for me.
I think it was a Rovian mistake and a Bush miscalculation this time around, he burned to many trust mes and came upon an issue that simply couldnt be placated by a finger over the lips and a wink. I know he thought he could get her in, and I am sure he believes she is a good candidate and a strict constitutionalist, and she may very well be in the end.
LOL -why does frustration matter? I do not think you realize that your frustration is something that ultimately does not matter... The dems are frustrated too! Measure of success is not in the avoidance of frustration or the amount of frustation one may feel -success is measured but in effectiveness...
If she is good, if she takes the bench WHO CARES what the frustrated whiners think?
You sure like living up to your reputation, don't you.
Kristol is one of the leading conservative writers who is also a regular on Foxnews - one of the most vocal and possibly influential sources of support for the Bush administration. There are those who think Kristol is among an elite few whose thinking actually helped influence the decision to invade Iraq.
Do you read much beyond your own rantings here on FR?
Nobody likes a weasel.
Carlson is the other "market failure". Nobody wants to watch him. He is a total dud and a loser. But the beltway media is so out of touch that they keep hiring him. It's one thing to be a sissy and have a bow tie, but if you do, you better be a screaming intellect like George Will (even if some of you are pissed at him right now).
I second that. Out here in my real world, most conservatives I knowno make that ALL the conservatives I know, which is a lotare supporting the President to the point of turning off the radio and television.
It's really quite amazing. I heard one person say the other day that it is really bad when you can't tell the difference between Rush and CNN. LOL.
Here's a clue for you: about five people have already agreed with ME since your last post.
Kristol basically is a pot stirrer.
Nobody here put any credence in anything he says.
Would love to stay and chat, but it's almost midnight on the East Coast, and I have to run to the Lodge for the Black Mass.
We'll be roasting a Christian baby afterwards, and I want to be there first to call "dibs" on a drumstick.
