Louis Freeh On Clinton’s Skeletons
60 Minutes / CBS ^ | 10/06/2005 | CBS News

Posted on 10/06/2005 3:50:12 PM PDT by Quaker

(CBS) Elevated to the post of FBI director by President Clinton in 1993, Louis Freeh now speaks publicly about his terrible relationship with the president.

“We were preoccupied in eight years with multiple investigations,” Freeh tells 60 Minutes correspondent Mike Wallace this Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7 PM ET/PT.

In his upcoming book, My FBI, Freeh writes, “The problem was with Bill Clinton — the scandals and the rumored scandals, the incubating ones and the dying ones never ended. Whatever moral compass the president was consulting was leading him in the wrong direction. His closets were full of skeletons just waiting to burst out.”

The scandals Freeh mentions include Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones and Gennifer Flowers.

The director sought to distance himself from Clinton because of Whitewater, refusing a White House pass that would have enabled him to enter the building without signing in. This irked Clinton. “I wanted all my visits to be official,” says Freeh. “When I sent the pass back with a note, I had no idea it would antagonize the president.”

Freeh says the most delicate and unsavory of the investigations was the Lewinsky affair, when the FBI needed to obtain a blood sample from the president to match the DNA on the infamous blue dress.

“But we did it … very carefully, very confidentially,” Freeh says. During a scheduled dinner, the president excused himself to go to the bathroom. Instead of the restroom, he entered another room where FBI medical technicians were waiting to take a blood sample.

After reading this I'm now positive that the Clinton's are blackmailing the Bush family, especially George 41!

Freeh also says he was determined to stay on as FBI director until President Clinton left office so that Clinton could not appoint his successor. “I was concerned about who he would put in there as FBI director because he had expressed antipathy for the FBI, for the director,” he says. “I was going to stay there and make sure he couldn't replace me.”

Thank you, Mr. Freeh.

I'm sure a lot of good people did the same - stayed at their posts in spite of a desire to get away from the Clinton's. Given the chance, Clinton could have wreaked havoc with the FBI and appointed the corrupt and criminal. You did the right thing.

Again, thank you Mr. Freeh.

Good point. Shame on them for giving Clinton a pass.

The Director of the FBI is informing the public that the President of the United States is shaking down foreign leaders for personal gratuities. This is the story of the century. Where is it on the airwaves?

I raed an interview with Freeh by the New Yorker and he did run Clinton down about many things. This was a few years ago. He basically said Clinton ruined and lost many chances to fight terrorism. Freeh gave up on him. http://www.newyorker.com/archive/content/articles/010924fr_archive06

The wimped out congress was because bill and hill had 900 raw FBI
files....I for one don't think Newt resigned because his wife was sick when he divorced her.

I still think oil for food may be his biggest scandal....he never passed up a money making scam while in Arkansas; Most of those other pardons were just to provide cover for that Rich fellow.

I agree.
No WAYYY will CBS air Freeh's comments in their entirety.
I'd be surprised if they even show this episode at all!

The wimped out congress was because bill and hill had 900 raw FBI

Wimped out congress was due to two things

Lack of support in the MSM- NYT and WASH POST in reporting on Clinton's real crimes and his 73% approval rating in the polls ( brainwashed American sheep-- It's all about sex)

Politicians have no back bone. That goes for both sides of the aisle
They are scared to death of the MSM
Only reason the dems fight like they do is the MSM aids and abets them

Will the media have an orgasm, celebrating Freeh as a heroic "whistle blower?"

I'm sure Maureen Dowd will be all over this!

Maybe I'm missing (or forgotten) something, but, couldn't Clinton have appointed the "corrupt and criminal" to begin with?
