Louis Freeh On Clinton’s Skeletons
60 Minutes / CBS ^ | 10/06/2005 | CBS News

Posted on 10/06/2005 3:50:12 PM PDT by Quaker

(CBS) Elevated to the post of FBI director by President Clinton in 1993, Louis Freeh now speaks publicly about his terrible relationship with the president.

“We were preoccupied in eight years with multiple investigations,” Freeh tells 60 Minutes correspondent Mike Wallace this Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7 PM ET/PT.

In his upcoming book, My FBI, Freeh writes, “The problem was with Bill Clinton — the scandals and the rumored scandals, the incubating ones and the dying ones never ended. Whatever moral compass the president was consulting was leading him in the wrong direction. His closets were full of skeletons just waiting to burst out.”

The scandals Freeh mentions include Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones and Gennifer Flowers.

The director sought to distance himself from Clinton because of Whitewater, refusing a White House pass that would have enabled him to enter the building without signing in. This irked Clinton. “I wanted all my visits to be official,” says Freeh. “When I sent the pass back with a note, I had no idea it would antagonize the president.”

Freeh says the most delicate and unsavory of the investigations was the Lewinsky affair, when the FBI needed to obtain a blood sample from the president to match the DNA on the infamous blue dress.

“But we did it … very carefully, very confidentially,” Freeh says. During a scheduled dinner, the president excused himself to go to the bathroom. Instead of the restroom, he entered another room where FBI medical technicians were waiting to take a blood sample.

In the article, he says Clinton tried to prevent the FBI from getting to the bottom of Khobar Towers.

The Toon tried to wag the dog one more time by telling Ladies' Home Journal that it is likely we will lose the Iraq war.

What would Clinton know about war? Look at HIS war record. What we he know about the military, other than it is something hate and tear apart? This reprobate, who spent most of his adult life lying, cheating, breaking the law, and a long list of felonies and treasonous activity, selling pardons to the world's worst criminals, and trying to find his underware in the dark in cheap motels, has no business telling anyone about anything.

He and his so-called "wife" should be in federal prison, and if it were not for the protection of the media and the political class in Washington, BOTH OF THEM WOULD BE.

Interesting that the Democrats have been accusing both Presidents Bush of having close ties to the Saudi Royal family ,while in fact, it was Clinton who turned a blind eye to the Al Khobar bombing in exchange for political donation.

"But I wonder if he would have ever talked about it if he wasn't promoting sales of his new book. "

Excuse me, but books are among the best ways to convey information of all kinds. They last a long time too, so history benefits from them.

If you haven't noticed, most high level government types publish memoirs after they leave office.

That's a gut check moment. If you've got integrity, you resign, and tell the American people why. Obviously, Freeh failed the test.

Don't think he didn't give it a long, hard consideration.

Freeh also says he was determined to stay on as FBI director until President Clinton left office so that Clinton could not appoint his successor. “I was concerned about who he would put in there as FBI director because he had expressed antipathy for the FBI, for the director,” he says. “I was going to stay there and make sure he couldn’t replace me.”
Gotta give him credit for that much, at least, right?

We are still paying for the crimes and negligence of the Clinton presidency. He didn't have time to focus on terrorism because he was too busy playing house with chubby interns.I wish president Bush would stop heaping praise on a scumbag who stabs him in the back every chance he gets.

Whatever moral compass the president was consulting was leading him in the wrong direction.

It wasn't any "moral compass" that he was following and it certainly pointed in the wrong direction.

Let's not forget that it was Kenneth Starr, Independent Counsel, who was responsible for the conduct of the investigations. Of course, he had the full services of the FBI, IRS and other alphabet agencies.

Ken Starr was the problem, not Freeh.

Louis doesn't get it. All of Crinton's scandals were personal. It had nothing to do with Crinton running the government. Besides, tomorrow morning they'll find his body in Fort Marcy Park, a suicide! BBBwwwhhhaaaaaaaaa!

Mike Wallace is one of the few people left at CBS who has any integrity, but I still wonder what the producers will leave on the cutting room floor. You KNOW that CBS will do whatever it has to to protect the Clinton legacy and Hillary's prospects.
