New York City plays better than "the sticks".
I don't say this to be insulting. If Corpus Christi had been wiped off the map instead of New Orleans flooding, I doubt there would have been national telethons.
Even if Houston had a WMD attack, it wouldn't rate as high.
And I agree that the OU bombing has been completely overlooked even by conservative talk radio. At least one news channel in OKC is covering it and reporting new details/confirming old ones.

This isn't eastern elitism, it's just simple numbers. The guy in OK wasn't PLANNING anything that was interrupted, he actually BLEW UP! He just missed his target.

Right. 19 terrorist who actually carried out the attacks. Mossaoui (sp?) was supposed to be the 20th.
BTW, on another thread it was reported that the OU suicide bomber's roomate went to the same mosque as Mossaoui.

NYC Increases Subway Security After Threat
Updated: Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 - 5:20 PM
WASHINGTON (AP) - New York officials are increasing security on city subways after word of a "credible security threat" to the city's transit system, Rep. Peter King said Thursday.
King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said, "Obviously, this is a significant threat."
He said he got his information from New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Because nobody cares about mass transit systems...No, only the millions of Americans who use them on a daily basis in order to commute from one destination to another.

I'll be heading to the LIRR in about 30 minutes....Penn and Grand Central are just such wide open targets....it really is only a matter of time before one of these cowards makes it through.....
I'll be on watch, be more careful...but these facist bastards aren't going frighten me into submission....

Earlier today I was wondering if Bush's sudden "war on terror" speech today was intended as a preemptive CYA to show what we've already accomplished and prevented, in case there's a successful attack in the near future. We've heard reports of increased terrorist chatter and AQ claims of pending October attacks in the US and worldwide.

And this on the day of the Prez' major speech on the WOT.

AP: Threat is specific to place, time and method.
3 Iraqi insurgents were arrested and one of them disclosed the threat.

The possibility exists that these are related..... Divert attention. Close together to spread fear. It's beyond the realm of the possible, you're correct.

That's right. It was Mussaoui, but he was already in custody when the attacks took place. Thanks for clearing up my blurry memory.

Today, Rush said the speech was planned to be given before the hurricances. Don't think it was a quickly-planned speech.
