Updated: Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 - 5:20 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) - New York officials are increasing security on city subways after word of a "credible security threat" to the city's transit system, Rep. Peter King said Thursday.

King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said, "Obviously, this is a significant threat."

He said he got his information from New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
