The man from Current Affair who found and interviewed Joran in Holland remarked on how Joran thought everything was Natalee's fault; he couldn't see that he bore any responsibility for what he did. The interviewer said that he's seen that type of thought process before in sociopaths. But this type of discussion enables the sociopaths among us. It saddens me that Freepers may be counted among those who enable these criminals.

Friend of Missing Student Reported Being Abducted, written by Post staff writer Jamie Stockwell:

The photographer, Benjamin Fawley, said in the Sept. 6 police report that he was walking in an alley near the downtown campus when he was "struck in the stomach" and "pushed to the ground by someone who put a bag over his head."

Fawley said he was put into a vehicle and driven to an unknown area, where he was "pushed out . . . onto a dirt road," the report said. He was unable to provide more specific information about the attack, and the officer who took the information wrote in the report that he was able to determine that Fawley "should be on medication for bipolar disorder and . . . was intoxicated" before the alleged abduction and robbery.

"It is my belief that the victim was attacked, but due to his mental state, getting any other relevant information is going to prove to be very difficult," the officer wrote(...)

In a Web log entry posted at 2:46 a.m. Sept. 8, Fawley wrote about both attacks. He wrote that the "sun hadn't been up long" when he was accosted two days earlier, although he stated in the police report that it occurred at 5 a.m., which on that morning was nearly two hours before dawn. He also wrote that he suspected that an ex-girlfriend was responsible.

Behl, who was having a romantic relationship with Fawley, according to his attorney and her family, is not mentioned in the blog entry...

Nodding and agreeing with all your statements. I have a daughter away at college for the first time. I was a stay at home mom, I was strict, and I taught her the dangers of the world until her eyes rolled to the back of her head. She's a good kid, and I pray everyday some nutcase doesn't target her, or she doesn't place her trust in the wrong person. Teens and young adults tend to see everybody their age as their 'friend', especially if they see them around a lot. I think that's where Natalie Holloway went wrong. She probably thought evil would be older and more identifiable.

Taylor Behl wishes a former roommate of Fawley's, Cino, a happy 21st birthday here, in her Livejournal. An ex-girlfriend of Fawley's I referred to in an earlier entry was only 19 when they met. This was the same girlfriend who had to file assault charges against Fawley in March of 2004. Taylor Behl was barely 17 when she met Fawley

I never vandalized his van. I did however kick it a few times when I came home from godfreys. I was angry. I was angry because of what I knew would happen. I hated waiting for what I knew he was gonna tell me, after being informed by my best friend whom he talked to in depth. I was so angry that night. However, I am not strong enough to even dent that van, its thick metal. And when he came home he never talked with me etc. He was just quiet. Magically however thursday night or friday morning if you want to be technical, I was accused of writing 'f*** you' on the other side of it. I didnt, I dont know where it came from, anyone could have done it, but it was not me. When I finally saw it in the day light, it was actually written in some sort of easily smudgable medium...that is odd?? I think he may have done it, I dont know..I never will know...

The idea that a prison full of rapists and murderers is some how going to punish another rapist/murderer is an urban myth.

It is extremely rare to get killed in prison for something you did on the outside. You get killed for something you did while IN prison.

Anyone who could do tattoos was well off and very safe since most wanted your service and having "open work" made sure someone was looking out for you...

A jailhouse pen is not much, a soft rubber tube with a ballpoint pen ink 'tube' & point. I used PaperMate pens I creatively aquired and hid in my cell's air ducts. The paper was taken from the Jailhouse church. The black and red ballpoint pens were lifted from a guard. The “ruler” was the side of a pen. Scoring the paper with a fine-point pen & ripping was how one achieved cutting the paper. The “glue” was lifted from an office in the kitchen. Even doing time for auto-theft didn’t kill the art. (...A)bout ohio plates...I can't remember if Ben lived in Ohio (he did, at least in the late 1980s ~ S.H.) but he did have a habit of stealing license plates from cars and keeping them in his van...if he has anything to do with Taylor's dissappearance then I am willing to bet those Ohio tags on her car were ones that he stole about a year ago.... he had a whole van filled up with plates he stole from nearby neighborhoods...

Skulz served a 30-day suspended sentence for the assault and battery described by the ex-lover -- it seems he's been pretty good at avoiding serious scrapes with the law since his time in prison for auto-theft in the late '80s/early '90s.

About Taylor's tag "Jailbait" written backwards, that has nothing to do with anything except for the fact that she was definitely hit on by men older than her.

It was just a personal "joke." She even joked about it with the local police, considering they were regulars where she worked.

Please get this word out, as people keep saying this as if she invites old men to her...she doesnt. Taylor is a very pretty girl, and unfortunately there are too many people who dont respect age limits.

Again, please post that the jailbait tag was nothing more than a personal kind of joke.

Hi. I'm a Richmond resident and a former friend of Ben's. I remain close friends with a girl he dated from 2000 to 2002. I'm also a local journalist (but I don't cover crime news). Because of all this, I prefer to remain anonymous here, but I want you to understand that I have credentials to say what I'm saying.

Ben has a couple of sides to his personality. Yes, he is charismatic and charming. But he's one of those people who holds on WAY too tightly to their significant others -- to the point of emotional, and sometimes physical, abuse. This year, he served two months on a 12-month assault conviction from charges brought by an ex-girlfriend. I know that my friend brought charges against him for an altercation that occurred when she left him for the final time in 2002. And I know that he has been diagnosed bipolar in the last few years and that he's not exactly consistent about taking his meds.

These things aside, I agree with you that it's doubtful that Ben had anything to do with Taylor's disappearance. He might know something, sure. But I doubt he harmed her.

As for the child pornography thing, the only positive thing I can say about Ben is that he absolutely LOVES his daughters and wouldn't do anything to harm them. Yeah, he might take creepy photos, but honestly I think that has more to do with Ben's lack of appropriate socialization his entire life than it has to do with any desires on his part.

I've always assumed that his attraction to young women has to do with his intense desire to never grow up. When I knew him, he absolutely refused to tell anyone his age -- and I'm not much younger than he is.

In other blogs, people have made much of the fact that he owned a number of computers. He built them himself, mostly from scavenged parts. Also, for a while he was collecting Social Security Disability, and in years past, he was living on student loans. So I'm sure that some of that money went to computers.

Also, Ben has had problems in the past with keeping his driver's license. In addition to his Nowhere Van being inoperational, it's doubtful that he even has a license, as it would take more money than he can probably get his hands on to get it out of hock.

I probably should not be posting here, but as a journalist and former friend of Ben's, I feel an innate desire to get the record straight. By the way, I've been impressed by your sleuthing and the conclusions you've drawn overall. You're a responsible blogger, and that's saying something.

At 17, in 1968, I went to work in Yellowstone as a waitress for the summer....didn't really know anyone, except a couple of older gals from my hometown who also went. (They were subsequently laid off - I wasn't.)

My point is....TIMES are DIFFERENT now. The culture has allowed so much crap that some girls today think is "normal." And, this is what we get. What used to be thought of as "perversion" is often now celebrated in the media. I would not send my 17 year old daughter away today, to college, unless I knew she had an escort everywhere she went outside of her dorm. (And, she would NOT be going to a college where boys were allowed in the girls dorm....that's for sure!)
