WASHINGTON -- Contrary to recommendations, CIA Director Porter Goss will not order disciplinary reviews for the agency's former director George Tenet and other officials who have come under fire for their performance before the attacks of Sept 11, 2001.
In a statement Wednesday, Goss said a report by the agency's independent watchdog did not suggest "that any one person or group of people could have prevented 9/11."
"After great consideration of this report and its conclusion, I will not convene an accountability board to judge the performances of any individual CIA officers," he said.
Half of those named in the report have retired from the agency.

The fix is in
It's the "Agag principle".
Just like W covered Clinton's mess. LIke priest, like people.
Will anybody have the guts to start impeachment proceedings against Bush. He now appears to be in cohoots with traitors.
Oh, for Heaven's sake. How ridiculous.
Why am I not surprised by this? You know - maybe Cronkite was right about Americans being too dumb to vote. Look what we have been putting into office - and by extension - into the bureaucracies. It almost makes me physically ill by what is going on these days. And it is "going on" faster and faster. God help us.
Just like W covered Clinton's mess
Where does this tin-foil-hat stuff about the President protecting the Clintons come from?
Don't forget, Bush honored Tenet with the Presidential Freedom award.
He is untouchable.
Besides Ma bush says the toon is like a son, which means he is W's brother.
Damage to the White whore house, stolen furniture and knick knacks and no prosecutions.
Besides Ma bush says the toon is like a son, which means he is W's brother.
Is that it? Don't you think that the President has more important things to deal with than "stolen furniture and knick knacks"?
Carpet+Under+Sweep= Treason
I don't get it.
The Bush Administration makes excuses for, and runs cover for, Clinton, Reno, Hillary, Tenet and others.
The Bush Administration accepts blame for actions they had no responsibility for, like Katrina, that empowers the RATs.
The Bush Administration spends MORE on social welfare than RATs.
Bush fails to nominate two known and highly qualified Constructionists/Originalists/Constitutionalists to SCOTUS--even though he promised to.
I really don't get it. Why is President Bush seem more intent on running cover for the Clinton Administration than he is in running the nation like a Republican president who won the White House, the Senate and the House?
Why do Republicans get on their knees for RATs when the RATs LOST THE ELECTIONS!!!!!!!!
Why do we work so hard, take time off work to campaign for George Bush, bust our butts to help reverse the Marxist juggernaut, get Bush and Republicans elected, then after victory, have Bush and the Republican act like they got swamped in the last election?????????????
Has Katie Couric gotten to George Bush and the Republican "leadership"? Has the New York Times reduced the spine in Republicans to mush?
Why is Bush snatching defeat from the jaws of victory????????
The fix was in when heads didn't roll right after 9-11.
Why was Tenet there for 3+ yrs after 9-11?
Just shows that some things aren't important to W.
Like where he lives.
Or maybe like who crosses the boundary lines of the land he has been give responsibility for, or the money he takes from me and spends ridiculously.
Anonymous bureaucrats will be the ruination of America.
Looks like no one will be held accountable and the CIA will walk.
Is it any wonder there is so much distrust of the federal government. They're making it easy.
White wash..
Very good and depressing questions. Like you and a number of other posters on this thread, I'm getting pretty fed up with the failure of most Reps to be true to the ostensible Rep philosophies. I can tell you that, for me, W is a major disappointment on many levels and his action in awarding the Medal of Freedom to the nincompoop Tenet is an icon for this disappointment.
