the President's sudden plan for Avian Bird Flu? That is his little joke. He thinks the risk is over-hyped.

West coast "dog flu" bump.
Authorities have said the outbreak, while more serious than average, was not particularly unusual
"Dead in 2-3 days" sounds plenty "serious."

If it gets bad, and we start getting their cooties, shut down the airlines immediately.

But it DOES have this article: "Killer 1918 flu recreated".

Just incompetent Canadian socialzed health care killing loads of people once again, as in the SARS fiasco of last year.

Tronto has a large Asian population. Makes one wonder if this is the start of the great flu season that GW talked about...with thousands of dead.
Hate to break this to you but every flu season we have thousands of dead. Generally around 20K. A bird flu pandemic could result in hundreds of thousands of deaths.

Dozens of Dead Birds Found in Toronto's East-end (Toronto) Sep, 23 2005 - 5:50 PM TORONTO/AM640TORONTO - About 30 dead birds have been found on an east-end Toronto golf course this afternoon. Police found the fowl around 1:30 Friday on the Dentonia golf course, near Victoria Park and the Danforth.
Wildlife officials don't know what caused the deaths, so they're advising people there might be a danger to animals in that area and suggesting dog walkers not take their pooches there.
The birds will be sent to Guelph for testing.

My dog had this 2 or 3 months ago. She started coughing & it turned into pneumonia. Antibiotics cured it , but she was sick for 2 1/2 weeks.

That is great news for your dog.
I was just wondering if the dog flu came from the bird flu.
There was a story about SARs jumping species and mutating. That info seems to have faded into the great MSM blackhole though.

Public health officials have said it may never be possible to determine the exact type of bug responsible for the rash of illnesses, How come, after billions of $$$ of medical research?
To: all4one
The dead birds are usually West Nile. The health care in Ontario is so massively screwed up, there will be hundreds more dead before they contain whatever this little virus is.
In contrast, tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, would perish in Ontario when bird flu eventually hits.
