A carry-over from the teletype days? Maybe Karl Rove needs to upgrade the hurricane generator software to version 2.0 with the case sensitive adapter. Then again, it could be a conspiracy and that's for you to handle.
Good place to vacation, but now back to the hills of Tenn. for you. LOL
Not all of it, LOL. We're getting a lot of rain in NE FL. Jacksonville Webcams
Michael, check out the three day track from post #15. Get the guest room ready cause Tammy is coming your way (although I did hear a GOM track is possible - good for you, bad for the Gulf states).
For some odd reason, I woke up around 4:30 this morning. Saw the closed circulation on radar, and wondered when the rest of the world would notice.
There's also some speculation that Stan could regenerate off the western Mexican coast and become a Pacific storm. Which begs the question.
If it becomes a Pacific storm does it retain the name Stan or is it renamed to Pilar or whatever is next?
If it had remained a clearly-defined cyclone going across Mexico and into the Pacific, it would have remained Stan.
Since it didn't, if the remnants re-form, they will take the next available Pacific name.
BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET IDIOTS LIKE RAY NAGIN TO PAY ATTENTION TO APPROACHING CAT 5 HURRICANES.

Thank you for the quick answer.
I KNOW THE REASON BUT IT IS FUN TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.
AT LAST A GOOD ANSWER.
This begs the question, perhaps for Steven Wright: So, if we get a Monster storm Alpha (or whatever), and they retire that name, are the folks in Greece forced to remove the letter henceforth and forever more from their alphabet, books, writings, etc? In some future year, after going thru the assigned storm name list, will then the first available letter be Beta?
Nah. We'll just have to use the Phoenician alphabet.
Cool. We need the rain here in GA, and especially ATL-area, and my lawn aerating guy comes next Wednesday.
That is the way the National Weather Service types it on their website.
This storm will stay an Atlantic storm, by what I have seen in the past and what I feel will happen.
That means Tammy must stay close to the Gulf Stream to keep any of her punch. These storms in the Atlantic tend to stay to a Northerly and Easterly trend, but that does not mean Tammy will not turn west...
Cold fronts from Canada are a factor -- one is supposed to push Southward later this week...
Blame your government's websites.
Awwww Fudge, it's gonna be wet and windy here in JAX the next few days!
