NORMAN, Oklahoma (AP) -- The father of a University of Oklahoma student who committed suicide outside a packed football stadium using explosives said Monday his son didn't intend to harm anyone else or push a political agenda.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded about 8 p.m. while he sat on a bench, officials said.
The blast could be heard inside the stadium less than 100 yards away where more than 80,000 people attended OU's game against Kansas State.
Joel Hinrichs Jr. said that his son did not leave a suicide note and that FBI agents told him hydrogen peroxide was used to construct the bomb.

Maybe not "politically motivated" -- but was he "religiously motivated" -- that's the $64,000 question.
What inept reporting. No mention as to what the students motivation might have been. No mention whether he is a muslim or not, which, from better news sources, I understand he is. Aren't I smart enough,CNN, to be told this information? Incompetent fools.
Clueless. A couple of military guys got into multiple fatality accident on the freeway here in Hawaii. The father was interviewed and he claimed his son would never do anything so reckless that would endanger the lives of others.
As it turns out, the accident was caused by road racing under the influence of alcohol. This man's son was driving one of the vehicles.
The time they left the bar and the time of the accident confirm that they indeed were speeding... No other way to cover that distance in such a short amount of time.
Oklahoma City was not political or religious
Flight 800 was not political or religious
Flight 587 was not political or religious
Part of me says it would be great to be a Muslim, since you can literally get away with murder. On the other hand, they actually like to take credit for their murdering of infidels, so I don't see how they would see this PC police work as a positive.
I am not making an assumption on this either way, but everyone here is basing their comments on speculation, none of us know anymore about this guy then his father or any of the reporters....
Perhaps we should leave the questions of his motivations to be answered by the folks investigating this.... or does the tinfoil hat brigade think they are in on this too...
This is not directed at anyone in particular, but everyone is making assumptions bases of scattered facts they are getting from the media who has been know to sensationalize stories in the past to get ratings...
I know some of you will flame me anyway go ahead...
