I hate it when families are interviewed. What else can he say? Parents want to believe the best about their children.

The father of a University of Oklahoma student who committed suicide outside a packed football stadium using explosives said Monday his son didn't intend to harm anyone else or push a political agenda.

And his dad knows this how? Somehow I doubt his son discussed it with him.

OK, so maybe he didn't want to push a "political" agenda. Maybe he was pushing a "religous" agenda- you know, the one from the "religion of peace"

"And he took the care to select an open area where there was no one around."

How thoughtful

Maybe not "politically motivated" -- but was he "religiously motivated" -- that's the $64,000 question.

What inept reporting. No mention as to what the students motivation might have been. No mention whether he is a muslim or not, which, from better news sources, I understand he is. Aren't I smart enough,CNN, to be told this information? Incompetent fools.

Let's see...

Oklahoma City was not political or religious

Flight 800 was not political or religious

Flight 587 was not political or religious

Part of me says it would be great to be a Muslim, since you can literally get away with murder. On the other hand, they actually like to take credit for their murdering of infidels, so I don't see how they would see this PC police work as a positive.

For some reason, I think I may have met the guy during Rush Week (he was in the Triangle fraternity). And if it was politically/religiously motivated, we probably would've found notes and messages from him on the subject.

I love it how many FReepers jump to conclusions.

He may be right... For muslims it is not politics it is religion. To kill the infidel is to go straight to paridise.

I'm not politically motivated, either. Do I HAVE to blow myself and some people up?
